Any Ondo guy can attest to this So because of that I should renounce my Yorubaness Mtcheeeww |

@OP because someone called you omo ale, those that make you omo ale? I guess what you should focus on why do they call u that and is there any reason for that, and if there is what is the way forward…. I lived with Egbira people in Osun state and we all see our self as Yoruba anytime I tell the am from Ondo they will say Ondo aje aja and so on, but did I fight them or deny my identity? No!. So op forget what some say. There is power in numbers bro. |

If some Yoruba in Brazilian, sudan, Benni etc can be claiming Yoruba I don’t think you have any reason to deny your identity because of what some people say. |

Sammy07: You cracked me up.I understand u bro but let's give him the benefit of doubt. He may be genuinely hurt about those experiences hence his decision. I am Ijebu and I have had my fair share of discrimination too. It's even much worste for the Ijebus with all the stereotypes coined for them by other Yoruba subgroups yet we embrace our Yorubanness like kilode. His decision may be too harsh and irrational but we should make him realize it by good logic and explanation. I wanted to fire him before too but i noticed the tone of his comments does not give him away as those impostors hence my diplomatic approach towards him. Btw, I hear you Ondos do not like us, why? ![]() |

juman:*Adam and Eve were the ancestors of the Jewish people but NOT the ancestors of the whole world. 1) Oduduwa was NOT a Yoruba man. There was nothing like Yoruba during his time. 2) Not all Yorubas descended from Oduduwa. In fact, only certain royal families and their extended families descended from Oduduwa. 3) Oduduwa being referred to as the father of the Yorubas is largely a figurative expression. At best, he was the founder of the largest and most enduring dynasties among those who later formed the Yoruba people. 4) Ile-Ife, Ijero, Ire and several towns in the S/West existed before Oduduwa. Around 2013, an archeaological excavation just outside Iresi, a small town in Osun State revealed the remnants of a 5000 year old Community. |

yunqdady:I think you have a serious inferiority complex. How would anyone make me feel less 0f my self or disassociate myself from my ethnicity? I'm of Ikare and Ilorin origin, I speak Ikare dialect and I have had uneducated Yorubas from Oyo and other places try to ridicule me when I speak in Ikare dialect, I don't get offended I only lecture them that Ikare dialect is closer to proto Yoruba than even the Oyo dialect. Being from Akoko makes it easier to understand Kaba-Okun dialects because we are both eastern Yoruba speakers. In Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara and Osun state no one will mistaken Okun people has Egbira or Igala. They know and acknowledge that they are Yorubas. |

Sammy07:The guy has serious inferiority complex. He doesn't speak for majority of Kogi west people who Yorubas. I was born in the north and being from Ondo state (though mother from Ilorin) but since I stay and more used to my Ikare side, I tends to speak Ikare dialect more. You may not know though if I switched to the general Yoruba because I grew up among people from Oyo and Osun state but these groups still find a way to ridicule my Ikare dialect when Is speak it to family men. I'm not really ashamed to speak the Ikare dialect and I make it a point to explain to them that Ondo,Ekiti,Ijebu and Okun dialects are closer to proto Yoruba language than Oyo dialect that has shown my innovation due to their closeness with Nupes, Borugu etc. |

sirwilly5:You don't fully understand Yoruba language. Even the Yoruba language spoken by the Indigenes of Atakpame, Togo (Ife-Togo) in the short You-tube video below can be understood by any Yoruba man with deep understanding of the language, how much more a closer dialect like Yagba or Owe dialect spoken in Kogi State. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNc7F2iw0tc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNc7F2iw0tc |
| Re: I Am Not Yoruba I Am Kogi: this Thing Is Everywhere. by oyatz(m): 7:51am On Jan 01, 2022 |
myobjective:The general Yoruba language is a modification of the dialect of Oyo which because of the legacy of the Oyo Empire was the most widely spoken when the Yoruba orthography were formulated. It however should be noted that Oyo Empire included non-Yoruba peoples and had close interactions with highest number of other peoples like Nupe, Hausa, Songhai, Malians, Fulani, Ewe and Fon. In the process , their languages was influenced by all these peoples e.g The now accepted Yoruba name for Prayer = Adura (old Yoruba= Iwure) Priest= Alufa (old Yoruba= Abore) |

Sammy07:You are are comparing 5 LGA to one local government in Ondo? You are a clown. Download a map today and study. You can't force me to accept Yoruba tag. You don't need to. Majority of Okun people agree they are Yoruba so if a few of us say we aren't, leave us alone. |

yunqdady:Bro, ignorant people are many in the west and all over Nigeria. I don't know how old you are but things like that will not really troubled me. I just showed this our conversation to a friend from Kaba and he just laughed over it. Yorubaland is up to oworro land in Lokaja and Jebba in kwara. These are Yoruba and will always be Yorubaland no matter what some ignorant Yorubas think |
