There is nothing too disrespectful here. Go and build on your local league. These African countries that have strong local league players don't worry about these things and they even win this competition more.
west Africa is useless. They should invest and build their local league and probably add few European based players like North Africans do.
That way, u won't be at the mercy of anyone. These players are taken care of by their European clubs and they spend a lot of money on them. It won't be easy to release them.
Take Egypt for example, they can go to any competition without Salah and do very well. Why? 90 percent of their national team first 11 are based in their local league and are doing well. The remaining 2nd 11 are all local league players. So, they can easily prepare players based on that. They are very intentional about making sure that their league is great.

This is what west Africa needs to do. Period.

Good morning, i clearly get you but bear in mind that Nigeria and other African nations values players who play abroad than in the local league- infact, African players want to represent their countries but their club side is their primary assignment and where they make money ( if you know/have anyone playing professional football, please ask him/her).

We have good players here in Nigeria but they are always overlooked because they are not playing in Europe. The disparity is obvious and we can't deny it. This is the reason our players consider their club side first in cases like this, thank you.

No Nations cup, no World cup, it is that simple if NFF has the balls.

If you are a footballer who will you honor... your club that pays you millions every week, stand by you to ensure you fit, then you will say u want to travel for AFCON wen they seriously need u, ok dey go, and come back and sit continuously on the bench or even sack you. Nff spend the AFCON millions on our local leagues, employ white expatriate coach for the local clubs, do coaching clinic /course for the local coaches, good pitches, tv right, good league price money, then watch the lik of obi Cubana, Cubana chief priest, e money, dangote , elumelu, etc will cue to take over the local leagues. If many good players in d local leagues ( world class), who cares if those ones no come. No be everything be science and technology, a good football league is management/administration and planning.

Rohr named his 37 man afcon squad without Emmanuel Dennis in November. Later, he got sacked and the interim manager now came and named a new 40 man list with Emmanuel Dennis inclusive.
However, this came after the time stipulated by FIFA for Federations to notify clubs of their intentions to invite players has already elapsed.
So Watford reserved the right to refuse the release of the player and the player himself can't force it because he signed loyalty contract. He'll lose terribly if he dares.
So Nigeria and NFF should stop disgracing themselves and looking for cheap pity.

don't be surprised, soon the European Euro will find itself just in the shoes the AFCON is today, and the competition will also feature during on season. FIFA and co will create a month league international breaks so the competition will be held. Just the way they created more international window to favour their Nations League.
