Many top football players around the world usually go back to their country towards the end of their professional football career. The likes of Willian and David Luiz have returned to play in the Brazilian domestic league. However, only a few African players usually come back to play in Africa. For instance, Ahmed Musa came back in order to play for Kano Pillars in 2021. Below are some football stars who should return and play in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

1. Mikel John Obi

He is one of the most respected midfielders in the history of Nigerian football. Mikel has won many major titles during his professional football career. He became famous when he represented Chelsea in the English Premier League. Mikel has played for some small clubs since he left Chelsea in 2017. He should return to Plateau United Football Club. It is important to point out that Mikel started his youth career at Plateau United Football Club.

2. Brown Ideye

Ideye has made 28 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He has also played for European clubs like West Bromwich Albion and Dynamo Kyiv. However, Brown Ideye is now 33 years of age. He should conclude his career in the Nigeria Professional Football League. It is important to note the fact that Ideye started his career at Bayelsa United FC.

3. Ogenyi Onazi

He was part of the Nigerian national team that won the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2013. He played for Lazio from 2012 to 2016. However, it should be said that Onazi started playing professional football in Nigeria. He should return to the Nigeria Professional Football League before the end of his career.

cool

They all pay their bills in foreign currency, earning naira is the fastest way to ruin them financially

Most of them are not educated on financial , business and investment knowledge so retirement isnt a good option especially when they still have a young family abroad

after gyan left sunderland, he had stints with clubs in Qatar, china, saudi n even india before he ended up in ghana..
common sense told me dt he had made alot of money from dose wealthy clubs before e came to relax in Ghana playing for fun..
do u think dt if a small club in Qatar decide to sign his old legs, he wont dump Ghana n make dt move for better currencies??
