A private estate has laws, for a visitor to call the resident before access could be granted.

The CP was wrong saying police could enter any public place, the estate is not a public place it’s an estate and the use of highway to justify it being a public place even did more damage.

Moreover, a valid police warrant from a court of jurisdiction is required to enter any place.

I just hate the NPF, look at the nonsense lie they are lying, even a commissioner of Police, terrible.

I want a similar action to be taken against the security in lekki phase 1 where gates have been positioned on public roads by some resident associations making it impossible to drive around my neighborhood freely. The police and other essential service providers should not be denied access to anywhere in line with the nature of their job

The Security guys were totally at fault and overzealous. He his the number one security officer in the state. They should have seen his convoy and the his security team. If he had identified himself, he has every right to enter any area or community in the state whether gated or not. It is not about been intoxicated with power, but the authority that comes with his office. Lets call a spade a spade.

Bunch of criminals in uniform claiming human rights. Call them to come to that estate during any criminal scene and hear them ask for fuel money first.

I once worked at a British curriculum school in Lagos where it was a law to the security men to search the boots of every car going in and out of the school compound. Even the Head Principal of the school was not exempted. The day the governor's wife came into the school for an event, the guard on duty allowed her in without searching the boot. That was the last time he worked at that school.

I hope these poor security men get vindicated at the end. It is difficult to do the right thing in this country.

There is no problem if he introduce himself or pre-informed them of his coming, although some estate do have codes and you can't enter except the occupant gives you a code, which could be change every 10 minutes , but I think the AIG should have been allowed provide they can physically confirm he is the one in the vehicle. .. anyway people just like twisting things and getting sensational. Hope the AIG would release the security men, sometimes they are not allow to think, but to obey orders.

But it's absolutely wrong to prevent people from moving freely. This is why I was against my Estate when they started locking Estate gate just because they want to collect Estate security fee.

The police just like every citizens must be able to walk through any area as long as it's a public area. The fact that you put a gate and called yourself a private Estate doesn't mean other people should not walk through the place. And they don't necessarily have to know someone or visiting someone there.

Estate security people should be made to know that they do not have powers to stop police or any government security agent or government officials on official assignment from accessing estates they guard. Government takes precedence to the people whom they are guarding.
