The Security guys were totally at fault and overzealous. He his the number one security officer in the state. They should have seen his convoy and the his security team. If he had identified himself, he has every right to enter any area or community in the state whether gated or not. It is not about been intoxicated with power, but the authority that comes with his office. Lets call a spade a spade.

How can a private security guard Prevent a police officer's movement

There is designation of power and authority, in as much as the NPF are perceived to be overzealous, the estate security men goof big time.

Most comments here are based on emotions and that cannot be used to fight for Justice.

Is the commissioner God. He supposed to respect the protocol of that estate. If you don't speak against the miss used of power, one day you will fall a victim. Imagine you are on a queue and someone just walked straight to the person attending to you guys just because he is a commissioner, how will you feel?

What was their job? Stoping people from using a public road?

All these gated estates are violating freedom of movement. Most of them have put gates to public access roads thereby putting pressures on some roads and causing gridlock. It's a violation of fundamental right of movement as enshrined in the constitution. You can put security detail to your private apartment but not public access road.

The police too goofed. Why not prosecute them having had evidence that they committed an offence? Why releasing them due to intervention of some "notable" people? That's a serious indictment on the CP as well.

Sometimes when you read the reactions of Nigerians here you will understand why we are unfortunate with leaders. We react with emotion on everything without thinking situations through.

Any police officer who properly identifies himself cannot be stopped from entering any residential estate much more an AIG. More shocking is the fact that he was on his full paraphernalia of office. Indeed the AIG should find out the security outfit and withdraw their license for not training their personnel properly.

I know that the Nigerian Police can be very abusive and unreasonable, but on this matter at hand the AIG is correct and arresting them is right thing to do. They might have been compromising his security with their action.

I'm sure exceptions would be made for important personalities like the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker, governor, commissioner of police, some top military generals, most esp when they are with their paraphernalia of office. You cannot deny these people access to any place, because they have what it takes to make the law go in their favor.

There is no estate protocol that should exceed foundamental human rights. Freedom of movement is one of the foundamental human right. It could have been a crime if the commissioner enter into someone private apartment with a warrant.

The roads in the estate belongs to the local government

This press release seems genuinely honest. The admitted the incident and their own side of the story which seemed logical and true.

1. Those guards showed they lacked common sense.

2. Their employers need to train them to work smart and with sense.

3. The police boss acted in a necessary way too,. Keeping him 30 or even 15 minutes in such an open position is a security risk and such actions taken were necessary.

4. The case of the governors wife booth not being checked could have been she reporting either as a parent or a friend to the school.

5. Police boss I hope all that were arrested have been released lesson learnt . All those top politicians doing eye service in public na show for the cameras and support. Forget the right thing is to be done for their security and safety.
