Good day all and happy New year. My 98 crv after driving for about 30mins, and I off the engine, the reservoir container boils, an I'll be hearing hissing sound. When everything cools down, water in the radiator will reduce, and the reservoir will be empty.
I did a small test this morning. I left the radiotor open and started the engine, after about 5-10 minutes I saw bubbles like foam. Pls what is the meaning?

Classic cylinder head gasket leakage symptoms after a bad case of previous overheating. Check if water is mixing up with your engine oil

Also a cracked water hose or radiator fin can cause such symptoms. Check your transmission oil too for signs of water dilution

Engine oil is normal.
Trans oil is very ok.
Though I'm planning to bring down the radiator for proper scrutiny.

Please post the picture of the red light that is blinking because to the best of my knowledge, when the doors are locked the red blinking light in my car is the antitheft light

Here is it

The picture is not too clear but looks like security light to me. If you have the car manual simply check the sign on the dashboard.

No doubt, that's the security light. It will keep flashing so long as your door is locked. There is also security light on the radio for higher trims of that model. For my accord security light flashes both on the instrument cluster and the radio

Please I wanna upgrade to this 2013-2015 Honda Accord. Please who has any opinion on the V6 models so I don’t make any mistake. Thanks

Honda isn't just synthetic blend but also fully synthetic. Fully synthetic is able to withstand high engine temperature better and it doesn't break down easily compared to synthetic blend. In as much as synthetic blend isn't bad fully synthetic is better

Thanks for the insight... I would upgrade to the fully synthetic.

The manufacture has configure and design the engine to work at a certain level. Certain things in the engine are design to protect the engine etc .....

But when mechanics or car owners start to deviate from manufacture design like , changing from Automatic compressor to manual, from single cell to double cell , from coolant to using water, from 1 fan to rewire to use 2 fans. From removing thermostat etc . "All because our Nigerian weather is not like abroad" all these design are done to protect the engine from further damage, but u start to do ur own thing on the car , you end up damaging the car .. It might not happen right away , but with time the car will break down.

And this is why I don't buy Nigerian used cars. There is a reason why the previous owner decides to sell of the car
people sell to upgrade. The car you are using now, will you burn it when you are done with it? Even many toks cars give this overheating issue.

I don't know much about this year but what I do know is that all honda v6 engines are interference engines and they use timing belts. So long as you follow the maintenance schedule and replace with OEM parts on the due date you are good to go. As for speed it's pretty quick and reliable. Just try not to wait till your timing belt snaps. Oh and I think they use electric power steering so not sure how that works too I'm still in the hydraulic era lol

135 and 141 are upstream and downstream O2 sensors. Your car will be drinking fuel if both are faulty. How is your fuel consumption?

P2184: Coolant temperature sensor issues. Get a rewire to check it out or replace it.

P0533: AC refrigerant pressure sensor issues.

P0133: Bank 1 Oxygen sensor slow response. Check for exhaust leaks , vaccume leaks , a broken oxygen sensor wire else replace if your checks seems ok

P0010: check oil control solenoid usually found at the left side of the engine

Go ahead and get the v6. I personally drive a 2007 accord v6 and I love it. It's quick , solid on the ground and silent. The 2013 upward will be even better

Contrary to as perceived, - 2014 vehicle models do not have sensors to determine when your oil is bad. Of course the oil pressure sensor can sense low oil pressure, not even necessarily a reflection of the level of your oil.

The oil life algorithm is based on mileage, for most vehicles it is set at 5,000 miles/Km. That is why it is advised you use the recommended oil for your oil changes. If you use a low grade oil, and rely on the oil life to determine when to change your oil,
you can as well do a early sendforth for your engine.

If your oil service lights comes on, and you reset it without changing the oil, your car assumes you've done an oil change and starts the mileage covered count.

When you are dutiful enough to record your mileage at oil change, and do a reset yourself, and confirm it is done, then check the next mileage the oil change light comes on, then you will understand it.

Vehicles are not yet as smart to know degraded oils. Service lights are programmed on vehicles with mileages covered

What is your point? If the mileage gets to 3000 miles and oil life is at 10 percent, can I reset it back or I should service it again?
