They can. This is a 2012 order. The Sheriffs came to make the properties earlier this month and were locked out by estate managements. It's probably these sherrifs that petitioned the AGF and IGP for backup to help enforce the court order. It's immoral to keep denying people justice simply because they're poor.

I doff my hat for Chief Adeyiga and his comrades. He is a true community leader and a true man of character . He never allowed the corrupt public officials to intimidate him with power and legal technicality jargons , he never sold out for 37 years pursuing justice for himself and his people. There are many Chief Adeyiga out there but negative minded folks think we don't have men and women of strong character and conscience in the land.
All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las. They always lose. God bless Nigeria.

I just pity both the Shangisha landlords & the new landlords. Above all may holy spirit help them in resolving the matter amicably

I was surprised when people were pouring invectives on the police CSP that went to enforce a supreme court order in magodo.

People were shouting a whole governor was disrespected as if he is above the law,we are quick to accept strong men instead of strong institutions.

The police were only there to protect the baillif and plaintiff, the Highest symbol of equity and justice have addressed a wrong done to it citizens but because strong men have been affected By the judgement some of you want justice to be denied.

What many of the governor's and magodo resident sympathisers don't know is that if the judgement affect just the poor the governor won't even acknowledge them with his presence.

In this case the rule of law should Prevail and justice should be served irrespective of the parties involved as we are all equal before the law.
You started well buh towards the ending you messed it up, 1st & foremost lemme say you made some factual deposition which i also share, contrary to public uproar the csp did not disrespect the governor, what need to know is their is POWER buh it doesnt end there, cos Hierachy/structure applies.
A csp is structured to recieve order from IG not the governor, the csp can only recieve calls from the IG he can't make call to the IG, listening to how he spoke with the governor i think he gave sanwo olu due respect while stating the fact.

The spoiler, sanwo olu is one of the most responsible govt we've had, most of us think less of him cos of his mode of entry buh over the years he has worked and think he deserves support & respect , sanwo visited abule egba fire explosion victims, mushin market fire burn, he was there with amu traders to offer support, sanwo visited endsars victims ... these are not people you will categorise as rich, infact sanwo has a very low use of delegates, he goes himself do ur research

CSP of police command Abuja came to Magodo Lagos to demolish buildings without the knowledge/authority from the Lagos state government even when the governor is the chief security officer and the matter has nothing to do with the police in Abuja

A police officer CSP on order of IGP arguing vehemently/disrespectful with SanwoOlu, a sitting Governor regarding Magodo imbroglio. This is why state police is better!

Mayor of Calgary controls Calgary Police. Why would IGP in Abj be giving order in a matter in Lagos? State Police as practiced in proper federations is the only way to go now!

Edit - The police raided the premises of a Supreme Court Justice......they said Malami sent them. Malami denied it.

Similar issues have now happened in Magodo.....police say Malami sent them but he denies it....

Maybe there's another Malami that we've not been told about....

Edit 2 - Magodo incident is about rule of law, AGF & IGP’s agents lawfully cannot invade the estate in the pretext of enforcing SC Judgment.
They are not Sheriffs empowered to so do under the SCPA. If the LASG disobeyed the Court, redress venue is still the Court. Not office of IGP or AGF
After all these talks, tell us who will then enforce the SC judgement against the state government that has refused to enforce it since 2012. Since the state government is an interested party, who protects the interests of the landlord’s hard fought victory. State police is not the issue here. We need to build stronger institutions first. Else these same governors will abuse the state police. We would be hearing about how they have been rounded up the landlords on trumped up charges via a covert order by the governor to his IG.

The governor might not be aware that some elements used the name of the state government.
Then Daddy should have said that " some thugs came to arrest us claiming to be acting on the state government orders, but the governor freed us because there was no directive from the government for our arrest"

I will agree with you that he has visited supposed low people in distress in the past ,but that fact won't invalidates glaring insensitive nature of the political ruling class when the poor are at the receiving end, most of the visit is for optics and little or nothing is done to ameliorate the suffering their ineptitude have caused the common man.

Congatulations to the indigenes of Shangisa for reclaiming their ancestral lands
[based on the supreme Court ruling] that was forcibly taken by the military guys in
1984.

I remember that Group Captain Gbolahan Mudasiru who is an indigene
of Lagos State was the Lagos Military Governor then. I liked him back then
but I'm surprise that his government could just acquire the lands of other
Lagos State indigenes like that! Military rule in all honesty is NOT THE BEST
because they can take decisions without consultations. The civilian rule is
FAR BETTER anyday!

The rule of law must prevail. I have a maternal uncle who lives at Magodo phase 2 and is
a former big shot with the Lagos State Government but I appeal to all residents to
regularise their stay with the original land owners and all will be fine. wink

Most of the Magodo Phase 2 property owners are BIG government and private sector
shots of Yoruba descent like Sen. Gbenga Ashafa, Afe Babalola Chambers in Brooks Estate,
Magodo and more.

At the end of the lease period, the indigenes can then decide to finally eject
everybody from the lands or allow them to stay since most of the property
owners are of Yoruba descent. Period!

Lagos State should implement the Court Judgement. Give them their land
