For some funny reason, works seem to have slowed or stopped completely at the airport soon after the start of commercial flights. The escalators i saw weeks ago still haven't been installed....still no lifts installed....still no avio-bridges....still no fire-trucks....and still no landscaping within the airport premises and the approach road!

My brother, you are absolutely right. The tempo of development at the airport has drastically slowed. The only noticeable improvement is that they appeared to have swept the internal road and car park. They also put up directional road signs and signs to remind folks to wear seat belts and labeled the power station building.

One hopes that sweeping the internal roads mean they will finally mark the roads properly. Not marking a road properly after construction is like not painting a house after plastering. Even if you live in such a house for 100 years, it will always appear somewhat uncompleted. That is why properly marking the approach main dual-carriageway all the way to the internal roads within the airport is very important. Especially as this is an international airport where we expect visitors to form their first impression of Nigeria. Also marking the main access roads could help attract the right types of individuals to invest in the appropriate buildings required along that dual-carriage way.

Something tells me that Obiano may fall out with soludo, sooner than later!.........and the rift may start with this airport! I am beginning to have bad vibes about the loose ends in the finishing of that airport. Obiano has severally claimed the airport was 100% financed through State internal revenue but did anyone notice the banners and flags of fidelity bank flying around the airport terminal on the day of commissioning? I truly pray Obiano is able to finish up work at the airport without any scandal.

"Anambra International Cargo Airport could be the next viable airport because of its proximity to Onitsha, whichistheindustrialhubof the South East region."
https://www.newtelegraphng.com/how-govs-wasted-n374bn-on-unviable-airport-projects/

Highlighted Main points drawn from the article as seen on NewTelegraph.

The N10 billion Anambra airport, experts said, is a wellthought- out project as the aerodrome is strategically located and one that could draw traffic from Asaba airport and other neighbouring towns.

"Its proximity to Onitsha which is a business hub in the South East makes it very viable, unlike many others that are said to be a conduit for alleged siphoning of government funds."

This is the 2nd article i have read concerning white Airport projects in Nigeria...and Umueri Airport has been on a good note. Pls the govt needs to hasten up on whatever construction activities left in that airport. Anything worth doing,is worth doing well.

It seems most of u are praying intensely for a fall out btw those two. Why are pple predicting this?
I wouldn't want a fall out at all...fall outs btw incumbent and predecessors hamper on the progress of the state...it slows down development and brings so much tension in the state...an example is the two useless politicians of IMO state,it almost happened in Edo state btw Adams and Obaseki. I honestly dont pray for that.
A look at Obiano sef u will know that the man doesn't really like problems..the man aint a troublemaker...my like for him grew here and it grew more even after the election. As an APGA gov,he's also been able to maintain cordial relationship with even the govt at the center(a good one).
Honestly,Anambra is peaceful because of Obiano!
The man is not the trouble type...i just hope he completes all projects soonest and hand us over to the next man to lead us.

The most important thing is commercial flights have started taking off and on the airport. Obiano has done his bits. Its not easy to build the three projects he built all at once. SOludo should continue where Obiano stopped. Effort are still being made to approve bigger flights for the airport and other finishing touches, I think beautification will be last on the cards

We are in Yuletide season, the airport is busy with passengers traffic, most of the contractors and workers for the first since the beginning of construction of the airport had time to travelled and see their love ones, remember 2020/2021 and previous year they spent their Christmas at the Airport site just to meet up with the target, moreover 2022 budget 10 billion was also budgeted for the airport, I believe after the celebration which is almost coming to and end the little work remaining will be concluded.

Exactly since they failed to hijack the election they are seriously praying for a fall out between Obiano and Soludo. Thats the new song. Obiano is not interested in playing politics if not he would have given the ticket to someone he would control, not someone as influential as Soludo and whoever he gave the ticket would have won.
Soludo should avoid these distraction because I'm not sure he would be able to manage it the way Obiano managed the Peter obi distraction and focused to work.
I'm very sure Obiano would not cause distractions to his government or even care about the politics involved. Let him focus on finishing the important projects like the airport and start his own projects

I found this online and I think it's so true. Why is IPOB silent now about the preparations for elections in the southeast in November? Has Nnamdi Kanu been released as demanded? So why are they not screaming No elections now just 10 months to the 2022 elections! The way they screamed even 2 years before the Anambra elections?

when i said there's more to that stupid group some riff raff will witch out from their ipob coven to defend them.

That group is a fraud out to sabotage the political and economy of South East. There's more to that group than meets the eyes.

Abia elections is also slated for 2023...no noise,no threat..rather what we have is already a scramble by the ipob patron for Abia's no 1 seat when he shouldn't be vying for such.

You’d do well to leave IPOB alone! They rescinded their call for the boycott of the just concluded Anambra elections, which shows they’re not as autocratic and unlistening as some of you are trying to portray them!

This is a group that the despotic and murderous Buhari thugs kidnapped and illegally rendered from Kenya back to Nigeria....purportedly to ‘face justice’! We all are witnesses to how Buhari -that recently laughably claims to respect the rule of law- is flouting judges orders on respect for Mazi Kanus rights while in detention....as well as using delay tactics and outright illegality to delay commencement of the case proper! One would have thought they’re sure of their case against him and are eager to see him ‘convicted and sentenced’ for the trumped-up charges they have against him!

Knowing all this....and seeing the way the Buhari junta have marginalised, cheated, humiliated and murdered Igbos in cold-blood, one would have hoped that you, a Igbo man (as you claim), would understand Igbos position even if you don’t support their pronouncements! Even i didn’t support their initial call for the boycott of the Anambra elections, and i made my position clear at the time. But what you wouldn’t see me as a Igbo man do is try to mock or ridicule them on Nigerian social-media, knowing this dissension and division amongst us is exactly what Igbo-hating bigots are going for!

Oga Igboson, please calm down. Nobody is in doubt that IPOB is doing the right thing for the oppressed and marginalized people of Biafraland. But we should learn to do the same thing across the board so it does not appear as though we are targeting one state all the time.

I personally support IPOB but they have to shed the recent toga of anti-Anambra agenda by demonstrating equity in their orders. I totally agree with those that just want them for the sake of equity to declare "No elections" in all southeast states until MNK is released. They can call off the order on the eve of the elections to show there is no partiality in issuing orders against one state and not the other. Everybody knows and supports what IPOB is fighting for, but they must ensure that all states share the burden of the struggle equally.

They should not always remember to do so during only Anambra elections. Then suddenly forget to maintain the same stance in other elections. The order was issued during 2017 Anambra elections, but was expediently forgotten during the 2019 elections in Imo! Again we saw it in the 2020 Anambra elections and you are saying it be expediently forgotten during the 2023 Imo and Ebonyi elections? Chai, diaris God o! Stop the double standards nah?

Getat of here. Sometimes I wonder what exactly you are always doing here.

Buhari was even lenient kidnapping and bringing him back to Nigeria. He should have wasted him in Kenya alongside other kenyapithecus.

Moreover I have known you as a man of double standard. Past threads you were shouting how hostile north is to Ndigbo but on the same north Igbos buy land, build houses and establish.

In your own community till today , doesn't sell land to any Igbo man let alone giving land to any Igbo man for establishment. This is a known fact everyday but you came here accusing others what your pre and post ancestors are doing.

Nnamdi Kanu's manhood is always live whenever anambra election is on but suddenly disappear during other states election.

Eziokwu dughu na onu Wu good morning. The only truth in your mouth is good morning.

Since Nnamdi Kanu wants freedom, he should first of all mobilize to give freedom to the centre table called flyover standing in Aba for nearly 8 years.

No matter the justifications for the IPOB's struggle and how appropriate it is in the present situation. If IPOB does not issue a sit-at-home order and campaign for "No Elections" in specifically Imo, Abia, and Ebonyi the way it vigorously did in 2017 and 2021 in Anambra, it would be obvious the organization has a rabid anti-Anambra agenda.

People noticed that IPOB conveniently forgot or refused to disturb or threaten Imo and Abia elections in 2019 and complained about the partiality. If they do it again, it will be clear that their target is only Anambra.

If you consider the population of Anambra in Igboland, you will agree with me that IPOB has scored an own goal by negatively targeting only that state.

All i see here is conjecture built on needless paranoia! Pray, why would IPOB single out Anambra to try and sabotage their interests....to what end!?

Thing is, Anambra has an off-cycle gubernatorial election, and it just so happened that this last one coincided with the illegal rendition and torture of Mazi Kanu by the evil despots thugs! Short of declaring full-scale guerrilla war against the Fulani gov’t of Nigeria, peaceful and non-violent civil disobedience is the next best thing! There has to be some sort of pressure brought to bear on the Buhari gov’t, to let them know they just can’t get away with murder, abduction and riding roughshod over peoples fundamental human rights. Or what do you propose as an alternative?

Remember IPOB equally called for a boycott of the 2019 elections as well, and i do remember they equally called that one off after strident calls were made against their position by many who argued the boycott wouldn’t be in the best interests of Alaigbo/south-east!

Mazi Kanu has given up a lot (not least his parents and personal liberty) for this struggle, and the least he should expect is that his kinsfolk have his back and wouldn’t abandon him! Notice how there are vile impostors permanently camped on this forum (esp’ this thread) whose primary remit is to try to sow seeds of discord amongst us and drive the false narrative that Igbos ‘don’t like IPOB and Mazi Kanu, but love Buhari and ‘one Nigeria’’ instead!

Lol..the pic speaks volumes
