Hello guys I got a room in a shared apartment with 2 other people on the lagos island. I realized the agent lied in the sense that other occupants staying in there are working class people. Because I was specific about this area the most. Why I felt he lied is because on close observation when making arrangements for painting and cleaning I realize one of the other occupant was always at home.

I have worked majority of my life in the military and security field. And it so happens to be that my relocation to Lagos was impromptu, so I needed somewhere to stay before finalizing other things I was doing.

I have no moral upper ground against anyone who chooses to do what they do. it's just that I don't like my path crossing the path of those who engage in questionable activities, that's how I have lived my life.

As it stands my instincts are all over the place, which is not good because majority of my work was special duties.
So to save myself from further escalation of my state of mind, I want to cancel my tenancy agreement since I haven't moved in yet.

Can I cancel my contract before moving in?

Please note I have no plan of using any form of connection leverage I have because I can handle things myself. I just feel I have made an innocent mistake and would love to correct it and be on my lane I have been all my life.

I got to know where he resides, so I will try resolve it amicably. Then anything outside that would be taken of, thanks for your input.

For now,no need to deal with anybody or us brute military force,you haven't moved in and it can be resolved amicably,(I believe ).
Speak with the agent and explain your reasons to him,let him rent the place out to another person and give you your complete tenancy rate,but let him keep the agent fee because he earned it.

I survilled the place and did some brush through with other tenants in the compound to verify my suspicion. And all accounts verified my hunch from the onset 6. Maybe is just me trying to adapt to civilian life, because I have lived a certain way most of my life.

Sharing of accommodation isnt new from where am coming from, but it's a very very new concept to me outside my usual domain. It's for this reason I clearly spelt out what I wanted and it was specifically targeted at the caliber of people. My beleive is that you can't live or trust your safety on someone or people whose ideology is different from yours. There is always bound to be miscalculation.

It's on this front I feel let down because all I wanted from the agent was just to make sure who ever am going to share with are working class people like myself... Simple.
