This is really an ecological disaster.
Stop complaining to Nairalanders.
Do something. Stop the state government from functioning.this is ur life, not anyone else living outside the region.

The Kenya reference is just disgusting!
How can you a black person from Nigeria even have the nerve to liken under your foot to another African person? Shame on you!!
Thanks. Am a Kenyan and it’s commendable to see a person or two condemn the racist thinking.

Years of unchecked gas flaring leads to aerial black soot.

It's so simple to know that.

Any smart person living in PH should relocate.
It's cancer loading.

This is something I cleaned on 31st December morning, sparkling clean. Look at it now. If not that I've been around, I would have thought maybe the appliance got burnt. And guess what? I never leave my window open without my net closed.

This is the air we literally breathe-in everyday!
I don't even want to snap my feet. I'm very light skinned but under my leg looks like I'm from Kenya sad

Please mods move this to FP let people see what we're going through.
That means you got to make use of a air tank nor be small thing this can cause serious problem a very serious health problem... What is the government saying about this incident?
Re: Black Soot: What My Ceiling Fan In Port Harcourt Looks Like (Photos) by vicki007(op): 11:49pm On Jan 08, 2022
I should prove I'm living in PH? Hahaha. Clown!
jamesversion:
What sort of uneducated argument is this. Allow me educate you that the proof of claim lies with OP.

He claimed his fan in PH he cleaned about a week ago turned charcoal black because of soot with a picture of his fan to back his claim. Good enough we have seen the fan, but how do we know he is living in PH. He should prove to us he isn't living in Yenagoa or Warri or Aba or wherever and be calling out PH.

@bolded, I have nothing to prove to you, since I claimed nothing.

You gerrit, if don't gerrit forget about it.

No one is perfect but majority of Africans have a long long long way to go when it comes to awakening their consciousness! They refuse to learn and evolve! Just pathetic!!

You guys are dying slowly but you don't know.
This is literally what you breath daily.
Also, the Kenya reference isn't cool.
We'd have screamed racism if a white person said such.

Now that the whole world is talking climate change, sustainability, carbon capture, etc.

We can’t solve this soot issue bedeviling PH for years. What a shame

I'll advise you guys to relocate. I know it isn't easy but this would turn out to be catastrophic if not controlled.

I’ve been battling with respiratory issues since July, 2021. I used to go out to run in the early hours not knowing the black soot was gradually causing harm to my respiratory system.

I woke up on January 4 and noticed the mosquito net I sleep under was not looking white. I rubbed my palm on it and you’ll be amazed at what I saw. My palm was black. Attached is a picture I took on January 4th. All doors and windows closed just so you know.

There’s no way that net would have been able to trap all the soot meaning I have still been inhaling it.

I mop my floors everyday, I can’t go bare feet so I’m either on stockings or have slippers on. Hanging of clothes outside is a wrong move. Leaving of doors and Windows open is highly not advised.

I feel for my kids because they have to keep inhaling this thing. I had to send them to Uyo during the holidays. They came back yesterday because schools resume tomorrow. My older daughter started sneezing shortly after she came into Port Harcourt meaning the she’s already reacting to the bad air.

Residents are slowly dying and something needs to be done urgently.

Okaaaaay, I see a lot of cancer being caused by this air pollution. With that said, what has your feet got to do with Kenya? We Kenyans are not the cause of your poor governance and by the way if you are referring to the black complexion? You sound like one of those racist Africans with a low self esteem. Other races categorize Africans as the black race regardless whether you are lighter than another African. You don’t want to mess with us here because we are an army and don’t suffer fools gladly.Don’t start what you can’t finish with those insults.Go work on your self esteem.Black is beautiful.
Keyans and people in east Africa are darker than the average black man; why being so sensitive?

It's just fact and an adjective for better description

Even among the whites, there are sets that are Whittier or fairer than the rest. For example, the people of Ireland and Scotland are Whittier than the average caucusian

Rather than learn and grow, you’ve decided to grandstand on the hill of your stupidity! And that’s the reason you’re a poor man or woman cos you can’t learn and evolve. If you’re not poor, you’ll not be complaining about soot, you’d have moved to your other house in another city!! Dirty soot sniffing poverty stricken dog!

Lung cancer and all manner of URT infections loading.
The residents of that city just cannot escape this verdict.
Those who care about their environment as a priority are not foolish.
Health is wealth.

Funny you. I’ve seen West Africans that are darker in complexion. Besides, have you been to Kenya? Interestingly, people see the marathon runners who are from a certain tribe and assume that all Kenyans are that dark in complexion. We’ve seen people who are darker. And yes I am very sensitive to dumb remarks. If one cannot create a human being, they have no business talking about their looks. We don’t care who’s more blue or yellow, we the human race are one. The white man’s blood group B is the same same as a black man’s in the same blood group. People should not be objects of ridicule especially in today’s world. Ignorance is not an excuse.

So we can continue smoking and inhaling?

Smoking is more concentrated (thick) and you inhale a large volume in a very short time, not giving your body enough time. But smoke in the atmosphere is more dispersed and less volume is inhaled over a longer period of time.

nah fvvck that. That shiit is bad. You guys ought to do something.

U are the only one seeing it as a ridicule

Like I said, it's just an adjective for better description

Someone says you are black and u take it as an offense? ... Does being black disadvantage or handicap you in anyway? Does being black reduce your self worth as a human being?.... I am black and am proud of my color... Statistics even show that people darker in complexion are more protected from the harmful rays the sun radiates due to the melanin pigment in their skin

Jeeez .... these our generation is so sensitive or should i say suffering from inferiority complex

I have a gap tooth; So when someone wants to describe me to someone, he/she makes mention of my gap tooth

Should I now start flaring up that the person made mention of my gap tooth?
