SerVik:
Simon is in that line-up to double tag with zaidu against Salah.

I, however, do not like this formation. Like I said earlier, that midfield is too thin and would easily be overun. Simon and chukwueze playing as side midfielders will lose a lot of balls while trying to dribble and this would put unnecessary defensive pressure on Ndidi seeing as Aribo is not as combative.

This defensive pressure would have been absolved a little with Onyeka as the 3rd man in the midfield.

I pray Eguaveon's obsession with replicating the tactics of the '94 squad doesn't come back to bite him

Thank you jare. Make them dey throw silent jabs.

Bros I talked about alike wing play of Chukwueze and Ejuke not to be too ideal, he came up negating my point with Bayern using a robben/ribbery, Calling my own nonsense...so I'm still quoting him within Context
there was no comparison boss...he countered you with a good and valid fact. Maybe you didn't understand him.

Ppl dont jus rate Simon Moses...that guy is a solid wing player..
We can't have Chukwueze and ejuke playing similar football starting for us...we need one bully winger and one trick master on the other side....I like this forward line

So Bayern Munich that had Ribery and robben on the opposite wing are Goats? Abi gunners that had Pires and ljunberg at the opposite wing are imbeciles? Or perhaps the current Liverpool team that has salah and mane at the opposite wings are ekwensu?? If you guys love Simon defensive qualities so much, convert him to RB or LB. A winger main attribute is to assist, create chances and score goals and if your wingers doesn’t do any of those 3, idk

Omeruo is the captain at his club. He has been exceptional for his team. Iheanacho needs to bring is A game else Egypt will dominate the midfield. I would have preferred Onyeka, Ndidi and Aribo's midfield with Iheanacho up top instead of Awoniyi. That midfield is too weak! Imo!

The line up is not impressive. I won't join some of you here and be pretending. I will gnash my teeth and use a microphone.

The bite is not creative enough. And the midfield is minus one. Nacho has been a liability to the SE for the past games. I pray he comes good today.

I will root and support the team. But allow me express my opinion in peace. The line up LACKS creativity against an Egyptian side that we should choke this first half and not wait till the second half to introduce the joker. What of we conceed 2 goals and find it hard to come back into the game.

Good luck to the team and all the best.
kindly keep us posted with the book of lamentation you will be quoting as the match progresses grin grin

I think this Coach Equeavon have a style of play
All he carries on his head is how the 1994 team plays and he still has gotten over it and wanna team up the current squad to play in like manner when everyone seems to have updated and add something new

Well let's support the team...me not expecting something different from the Equeavon I know

First Shock of the Afcon: Leone stars stop African Champs.

Algeria wondering how Nigeria got 4 goals past this Mohamed Kamara guy in Goal for Sierra Leone.

6 games played in this AFCON. No game has had more than 1 outfield goal. Some, like Senegal vs Zimbabwe, had none.

Creativity has been so poor in this tournament.

7 games now.

your statement is factually wrong within context. North africa has the hottest temperatures.
Algeria and mali are 2 of africa hottest countries.
Also the tactics u describe is actually used by north african countries with their proximity to sahara desert.

The only excuse is that their foreign based players are not used to the weather ( most teams are affected)

We are talking about high temperatures and high humidity (even though the humidity in that part of Cameroon is relatively lower at this time of the year). Have you askd yourself why despite the High temperature in a place like Dubai you will hardly sweat. Dubai has a kind of weather similar to what we have in North Africa: hot hot during summer but with low humidity. And cold during winter.
Have you also asked yourself y North African teams always play their home games at 8 or 9pm local time, under flood lights? Weather is a factor.

Some days ago, , before the AFCON kicked off, i mentioned weather/climate as a factor that can work against the North African teams.
Even though it is still early, let's just be watching.

Simon played 6 games in WCQ No goals and no assist as a winger, RWB that’s not good enough. Even if Dr conjure any kind of statistics, it’s unacceptable.. we had some players discarded immediately after playing 1 bad game while the likes of Moses Simon and musa can flop multiple games simultaneously and people will be mentioning irrelevant stats

If anything, the '94 style will comfortably coast through this AFCON

The lineup is decent, give or take a few persons.

Still, their inclusion can be justified. I don't know why some people on this thread are weeping and gnashing their teeth, Twitter people are even happy about the line-up.

Looking forward to a good game.

grin

You can never please them here. They must always find fault in the Lineup. I really don't understand this Thread anymore.

Instead of analysing the Lineup, strengths and weaknesses, its tears flowing like Jordan River everywhere.

Gernot Rohr chilling and regurgitating his usual excuses

Rohr when asked about today's result for Sierra Leone:

"I told you all Sierra Leone were a tough team. When we played them, we learnt a lot from them. They are a rising power on the continent. That 4-4 result is justified."
