I’m not entirely against IELTS, my argument is that for someone, anyone with a post secondary school qualification, IELTS should be waived. If for any reason this cannot work, then the year of validity should be increased. I can’t unlearn a language I did so well in, a language I still speak and use in all official correspondence under two years.
Imagine someone taught in the English language from birth, went to the University to study English for bachelor and masters, still required to write IELTS? Na wa.

Please, say only what you’re sure of. WES has no expiring date. Your evaluation is forever valid and depending on what you paid for, you can have your documents and evaluation saved forever. And if you’re referring to WES ECA for Canada immigration purposes, it is valid for 5years after which you can order for a duplicate copy . That’s IRCC requirement and not just for WES.
good morning. Kindly explain better on the WES ECA. I'm just getting to know about it. +2347085510075 on WhatsApp please.

No
Except perhaps you didn't pass English in waec, in which case, it's justifiable

You need to do away with this kind of mentality. What happens to sensitisation and creation of awarenes? Nigerians are wasting their hard earned money through different needless ways. Ponzi scheme operators too didn't force anyone to participate but we still need to do our part by creating awareness. The same thing goes for betting and gambling.

Some of you claim to be educated but can't prove your education. What's all the ranting and talking down on waec for. That waec is nonsense?
Nigerians always talking down on their own to feel fly and posh.

Let it be known to you that many high school students of those countries will fail waec if they take the exam.

What is rip off there? It is meant for immigrants who want to live there to be sure they can speak English, understand it, and can write it well. It is the same price all over the world.

You should start thinking in this direction. Your naira is a mess. Your economy is messed up. This was what we told some people saying N400k salary is something. Everything is messed up. 400k salary is nothing again. Lol.

So, una eyes don dey clear small small. By the time subsidies and tax holidays are removed, then we will know the true prices of everything. Lol. The exact way those useless parents of ours killed Nigeria with subsidies which politicians keep using to loot is the same way we also want to keep having them. They are debt accumulation vehicles. Who will pay them? We do not waht to pay what our parents have owed, and we want to pass more to our children. Are we serious? The evidence is naira keeps depreciating. Other nations with good forex arent complaining. The price is the same all over the world.

The same person who pays the price gets there and start earning something reasonable and have access to good life .....is it not worth it? No......sidon there and dey blow grammar. Even its just £20 you save and send home...that's how much? Lol. When you start having the good condition of life Nigetia refuses to give you, the money won't matter again. Is it not the same price all over the world? Many losers are around. [s] If you allow the writer here to manipulate and discourage you....hmmm you are the bigger loser. In fact, anyone who knows her right from her left wont fall for the trash. [/s]

Lol. Immigrants who will never smell airports. We do not only speak English but also write UK English version. Rip-off!

overall90:

Why should a language proficiency test have expiry date in the first place ?
Are they saying that someone who can speak and write effectively in english language today won't be able to do so in two years time?
The two years thing is simply an exploitation.
Lanspower:
You are right bro. I think the two-year validity of the test score is largely exploitative. I did mine in 2014, got an overall band 8, but never had the opportunity to use it. Why English tests dey expire is beyond my comprehension. The order exploitative scheme is WES, a credential evaluation scheme that costs hundreds of dollars but has a validity of only two years!

@Peacejoylove, do you care to explain why this English proficiency dey expire at all and after just two years?

Yes, they accept WAEC. But the guy has no idea about IELTS, You must take and pass it whether you have WAEC or not, except if you are not seeking admission in UK, US and Australia schools. You must demonstrate to them that you can speak and write in English by passing all four parts

Travelling to different countries doesn't make you stand a chance of obtaining visa to other countries.
It is never a rule in obtaining visa anywhere or a requirement for immigration.

If only i was president. Diplomatic relations with other countries would have been based on reciprocity. British and Canadian experts including Diplomatic staff should be made to write the Exam before getting visas to Nigeria.
Great intelligent comment, not all these other commenters reacting emotionally.
Like you said, they must take local language or pidgin tests before taking any immigrant jobs here... and no more calling them expatriates

For USA, you don’t actually need IELTS or TOEFL like that coz there are many universities that recognize Nigeria as an English speaking country.

I’m pretty sure there will be schools in the UK and Canada too that does the same thing.

But honestly this IELTS/TOEFL need to be scrapped for Nigerians. We were taught in English in our schools so I don’t know why we have to test on English again.

However no be only Naija dey write IELTS, so we can’t tell them to stop the exam we can only tell them to exempt Nigerians.
my problem is the fact that it expires every 2 years

It is, Sir.......

Why are people writing the exam, to migrate and remain.... If something was not attracting them......

People don't migrate for economic reasons alone. There are UK citizens studying and working in US/Australia etc so in this particular topic, it's not entirely about the economy.

This test shouldn't be applied to Nigerians. A lot of Nigerians speak English fluently more than the native Americans, British or Australians.

Lol! A lot of Nigerians speak English fluently? With all our horrible Nigerianisms like "paying installmentally" or "do something for me"? There is no word like "installmentally"! But 99% of Nigerians will "pay installmentally" and believe they are 100% correct.

By the way, its "pay in installments"

Why must Nigerians take IELTS when English has been our language of instruction?
Thats a WRONG one.

This examination is taken all over Nigeria every Saturday. In Lagos alone, more than 500 people sit for IELTS weekly. Do the calculations!

Via this examination, over N1B is jejely collected by UK government and Co yearly.

The bolded is an example why Nigerians must seat the exam because we speak "Nigerian English" which is not globally understood.

It’s unfortunate that only in Nigeria such can happen. How do you justify that passing exam for English proficiency expires? Does it mean that if you can speak and write English, in two years time, you won’t able to do so? It expires and you can’t speak or right again. Such acts will never happen in their country. What do you mean by force? Do you understand what a prerequisite means? Like do anyone force to eat food or drink water? You’re too myopic!

What is wrong with our standard of Education in this scenario??

If I live in a country where English is the official language, and I wrote and passed the exam, why do I need to rewrite the same exam after two years? Does my ability to speak or communicate in the language automatically reduces after two years? Call it what it is. Exploitation!!!!
The guy is partially right. We Nigerians are treated poorly out there because even our leaders don't value us and treat us badly. How can you explain a body like National Universities Commission (NUC) making Communication in English a compulsory GST/GNS course in the University when we had been taught in English as the language of instruction all our ife and had to get a credit pass in English in SSCE and take English exam compulsorily as one of the four UTME subjects before being given admission into the same University? NUC is indirectly saying they don't trust our English language proficiency despite passing the English exams at both SSCE and UTME. Why then do you expect foreign bodies like IELTS and TOEFL to trust our proficiency?

It's better to research first before making wrong claims. WAEC is accepted by a lot of foreign universities, UK universities included. They even accept a letter from your university or employer in some conditions.
