I know of many mothers who did partial circumcision for their female children. I think the old traditional and unprofessional way of doing female circumcision was what made the practice looks terrible. The use of the word "mutilation" was intentionally used to make the practice look so bad.

FGM/C is a barbaric act.Its a violation of d fundamental human right of d girl child. I don't think the father of d baby is a medical doctor, a good medical knows better d side effects of female circumcision.
Even biblically d practice is not supported. Medically it is wrong as a very useful part of d girl's body anatomy is chopped off all in d name of keeping with a barbaric tradition.
Ask den why dey circumcise their girl child, their reply is to prevent dem from being sexually promiscuous.. What about d so many make folks that are sexually promiscuous, aren't they circumcised?

I concur �. That’s why I was shocked to see FGM quite rampant amongst Yoruba people, despite their education! Anyway, that was in the early to mid 1990s, I don’t know if they are still doing it today.

In most parts of Igboland, we stopped circumcising female a long long time ago!

Female circumcision is A MUST AND A TRADITION. JUST LIKE MALE CIRCUMCISION.

The little girl is the doctor's daughter. The tradition is his. The decition is his. I wander how persons who may not have gone pass secondary school level call the dovtor names. The way and manner little girls go after sex this days is alarming. Dont forget we have diff experience in life. A female friend of mind who had three boys told me if she had a girl child, she would circumcise the child going by her experience at the university.
I know there are better ways to carry this female circumcision out. Some will massage the clit of the baby girl for days.
