Another hidden Niche for Upworks is Airtable, if you can study Airtable Documentation and API and build a sample widget and component as an example, you can achieve the following:

1. Have knowledge of Airtable
2. Sample of Airtable Competency
3. Apply for Upworks Airtable gigs.

About the macbook, I was glancing through prices on Jiji last night and they hovered around 20k, may be less. Should you get any other good deals on a used macbook like that, I'll like to know about it. My present laptop is very slow and I've not even started coding yet. Looking at the ebay option, but delivery time...

It uses a dual core pentium(r) cpu with 2GHz processor and about 300Gb HDD. Originally came with 1GB RAM, so I had an extra one added to make it 2Gb. I'm only now realizing that it may be of more lower spec than my old one that got damaged. Was thinking about swapping the RAM, but this one is a DDR2 whereas the old is DDR3, so not compatible. By the time I open firefox, notepad++ or maybe visual studio and connect to the internet, it starts slowing down.

Will appreciate this. I've recently joined a telegram group with a webinar scheduled for 29th on how to set up an upwork account. My application keeps getting rejected.

Yeah this is low especially the ram, if you had 4gb I would had advise to move to Linux, it is lightweight and good for programming.

What if I used 2 DDR2 RAM of 2gb each to make 4GB, do you think it would be good enough for Linux?

Yes, Linux can run on less, the issue is things like VSCode and npm but you will have more ram to use than Windows

Okay, thanks for the suggestion. I can start small and upgrade when I have the means.

I'm actually trying to use upwork to build a professional portfolio. Or would uploading a simple static page done as a pet project serve as a portfolio acceptable by upwork?

grin Funny enough Yes! Maybe they were strict before but I don't think they are again. When they reject me the first time, I said lemme just do experiment and see so I added a Tip- calculator to my portfolio just some basic JavaScript, CSS and HTML and they accepted it. The thing shock me smiley. So just try to put something on your portfolio it doesn't have to be complex.

Okay, I'll give this a shot. I'm presently trying to replicate the home page of a BBC website; just static, no complex coding. When I'm done, I'll upload it there and see how it goes.

My fellow freelancers.

I want to make a confirmation regarding Freelancer.com

Is there anyone that makes money from freelancer.com? Most of their jobs seem like scam to me.

Please, if there is anyone that works on freelancer.com he/she should enlighten us.

Lolz, Indians and Pakistans have populated that site bro.

Started my freelancing there however.

Hello guys,
Please which bank dom account can I use. I need a bank that will receive payment from Payoneer and allow me make withdrawals in USD at the branch over the counter. Reason I'm asking is, I heard for some banks, you can either open
1. cash USD account - for cash transactions alone or
2. transfer USD account only- for transfers and online transactions only. No cash over the counter

Payoneer pays in naira or in dollars to any bank in Nigeria. You should get a dom account and receive your pay in dollars though because the naira exchange is bad(400)

Yes, I mean which dom account---which bank is better. I just modified my first post for better understanding

All of them and all their account types allows you receive and withdraw over the counter. For extra feature like a dollar card, online transactions, physical deposit(from you), you'll need a dom current account.

Just go with any big name, FBN, GTB, Zenith, UBA, Access. I have received cash fund(though WU) from all of them without issues.

I use GTB though, its been my bank for 5 years now and the opening balance needed was $0 instead of $100 others were requesting.

i think using aboki africa to withdraw from upwork is the best, you lose 3dollars at most for the service charge for both upwork and the app...and the juicy part is that you get to withdraw your dollars directly to virtual USA bank account at the exchange rate of 566 or whatever dollar is at that moment. that 390naira upwork they churn out to payoneer is disheartening

You don't mean it

Please explain how we can use it on upwork, bro, and will they be the ones to convert the currency for us?

you just have to open an account on aboki africa, then request for a virtual account which can be in USD, EUR, GBP0 which will be a US bank number. So you just add the USD account to your upwork and always withdraw to it ,search aboki dot africa, you will see procedures. I hope this helps
