Hi everyone,

Asking this a would-be first car buyer.
I'm looking to get a nice car that is not so old so looking at Nigeria used models of a Corolla 2013 vs Accord 2013.
Which would you recommend and why?
Thanks.
Budget at most is 3.5m

Remove the Corolla from being in same picture with the Accord.

That said, your budget will only get you a 2009/2010 Corolla or same year Accord.

You wanna chill with the big boys, then add between 1m & 2m to your budget to get the Accord in the picture you uploaded.

How about in terms of reliability (as this seems to be the selling point for nigerians) and fuel consumption?

I mean as per Nigerian used ones. But that 3.5m is based on adverts I see on Jiji. Possible?

Hello house.

Please what's the technical difference between Toyota Corolla 1.8L (Bank Type) and Toyota Corolla US?

Reliability both are on par, I know for sure accord is top in reliability in the medium size sedan category while Corolla is top also in the compact size category.

Corolla is more fuel efficient as you are comparing a 1.8L i4 to 2.4 or 2.0L i4 for the accord.

The accord also has a V6 engine which is 3.5L, the loss in fuel economy is compensated by power for the accord, the vehicle moves fast and very responsive.

Both vehicles are okay and very distinct, family man and business oriented accord would fit you, Corolla is good for a family man just trying to start like.

If you want to drink water would you rather buy Eva bottled water (accord) or satchet pure water (corolla) both would quench your thirst with differing purity satisfaction

Bank type is stronger than the NA version but the bank type gets vandalized easily, nah so you go dey buy brainbox regularly if you don't secure it well.

95% of bank type are bought brand new in naija, the tokunbo is like finding a needle in a haystack

Matching Honda Civic with Corolla would be more appropriate, Accord too senior that Corolla. You can buy Civic of same year, heard it has better fuel economy than Corolla...

If this post isn't coming too late, matrix is acceptable on UberBolt, it is even one of the commonly used after corolla and big daddy

ping2ping:
Hello guys, I need help.

I am looking for a good Nigerian used car to buy for everyday use. The car will be used to n fro office weekdays and taxify for weekends/public holidays.

Consequently, i am concerned about low fuel consumption, cheap and readily available parts, very good AC system and enough room for 3 people at the back.

After my research, I have come up with the following, all Auto transmission:
1. Honda Civic 2007-2008 (US Model)
2. Honda City (the model with normal auto transmission)
3. Hyundai Elantra 2007-2010(US Model)

I did not include Toyota Corolla because of the theft and harm to drivers. A taxify driver told me a couple of Corolla drivers were killed last year and their cars snatched. Toyota Matrix would have being there but I don't know if hatchback cars are acceptable for uber/taxify.

Thanks

I'm thinking of buying the 2013/2014 honda accord. What a lovely car. If my budget was higher, I'd have gone for the 2017 model, especially the touring.
I just need reassurance from those who've used this car. My budget is 5m. Don't know if it will fly, with the current inflation rate.

I've also been thinking of the 2015 civic, the full option, as I've owned a lower model and enjoyed it. Anyone own or knows anyone using this?
Kindly check my profile sir. If you are interested in a 2014 accord

Hi bro good day. I have about 4.5 to 4.8 million to spend on a foreign used vehicle, this is going to be my first car ever which reliable sedan would you suggest?
I can't even believe I'd be owning a car soon lol the feeling is crazy

your query is flawed you are pitching a lazy bone 2.4L 4cylinder 177hp camry against a grenade launcher 3.3L 6 cylinder 218hp ES330

speed
camry is a midsized sedan while the ES is a luxurious midsized sedan they weren't built for speed but off the record the ES is faster than camry.

Balance
The ES should top here due to its weight and engineering but if you are a regular interstate tourer in nigeria then you should be mindful of roads you will do 160kph on

maintenance
The camry should be cheaper on the pocket the only issue is the 2007 camry was plagued by transmission issues.

Resale
Trickish but I will give it to the camry expensive than the lexus or both almost on par.

power/performance
The lexus has more hp as for performance you will feel a difference in both when coming from a corolla. Don't expect anything extra ordinary not to end up throwing a ROD.

Fuel economy
The camry will give more miles per gallon compared to the the ES.

Verdict
The outward appearance of the ES makes it look like an over bloated camry big daddy though the interior and standard equipment are top notch. Its a luxurious vehicle that looks good and loaded on the inside but crappy on the outside tongue

The camry can be upgraded on the inside to feel like a luxurious vehicle which won't come cheap and least I forget it is a robber magnet

It's a good buy depending on your budget and the state of the one you're buying (don't rush, get a trusted technician to scan whichever you resolved to buy). It's the first model year; I would have preferred 2013 model. Notwithstanding, it's a reliable car, just watch out for the interior accessories, the AC and bad roads.

Is the 2014 corolla worth buying? It's going for around 5.5m right now. It has become too common. I'm worried that it may be prone to theft very soon.
I also feel its overpriced considering its so basic.
