Op, the inflation in market price is due to high rate of $. If you are an importer you will understand why.

Right now I don't even know the price of fish and other food stuff cause they will first try to extort you by calling some big numbers, it's only through strict negotiation and perseverance that you will get something in the marketplace for the actual price that won't hurt both parties.

I think inflation in Nigeria today is what we made it and not what the government did, I can remember when pepsi and other soft drinks are being sold for 100 naira, some people started selling theirs 120 cause it's extra cold/frozen.

Before we know what's happening pepsi and others increased the prices of their drinks because they realised we are still buying even though it's being sold at enormous prices.

What is the government doing to control these prices? Hopefully someone would ask Mr president and the appropriate authorities on my behalf.

Do you believe this lady sells cowbell milk 70naira for me? Sent a boy to her shop twice, she sold for 50naira, only for me to go back and she sold for me 70naira again.
I returned her 1year rent and ask her to leave my complex by month end.
She was screaming and calling me a witch only to come back a week to my deadline to start apologizing that it was devil's work, still told her the month must not end with her in my compound or she will face the courts.
We Nigerians are our own problems, not government not buhari not anyone, Just us.
We tend to think since I have paid tithe I can go and steal, because pastor or imam pray or prophesy for me then I can go and do evil.
If half the amount of people going to church or mosque are actually morally right, Nigeria would be a different place.
When you start saying it is Igbo or yourba or hausa, then you too are part of the problem.

This reminds me in 2020 during lock down when all the Garri sellers in the market were selling a paint of Garri for #1200-1500, a particular woman decided to sell her's for #700 the other sellers attacked her saying she is breaking the rules of the market union and woman instincted that she is not a member of the union besides she can't watch people languish in hunger all in the name of a stupid union.
They reported her to some troops of Armies na so this woman craze remove clothes fight back everybody join mouth that dey oooo people bought Garri that served them for days that day.

Nigerian buyers prefer to price whatever item that they want to buy before payment. Some even make noise when you give them the last price as the first price.

Stop this lie lie my friend, who is the seller, are you not the owner of your item? If you call the first price as the last price, who will arrest you for not reducing the price for them. It is because you Igbo boys are always looking for the means to fleece people of their money, that is why you call those outrageous prices first.

Let me teach you how to buy something you don't know the price.

1. Ask for the price
2. Tell the person it's not your line of business, that you will go another place and price, if it's the same or a little different you will come back and buy from him.
3. Keep to that statement and move immediately. The person will tell you the most reasonable price the item is sold for.
4. With the knowledge you have about the price, you use it to price in another shop .

If an igbo man gives you 15k starting price... kindly respond with "You no collect 5k" from their you add2k max, don't go above 7k.
If an Hausa man gives you 10k starting price... respond with "you no collect 6k"? add 1k to it as last price.
If a Yoruba man gives you 10k starting price, respond with "you no collect 4k" add 2k it as final price....

When a yoruba person tag his goods #10k, price it #700. He/she will end up selling it #1200 if you insist. If you doubt me, try out those ibadan men selling cow meet in lagos markets.

When an igbo man tells you 10k, least you can get that goods is 9k or 9.5k, and that's the worth. For instance, Water tanks that is being sold 65k from the company, na 2k max be the gain they use in selling it.

Unless in some cases, when your face reads mumu, that's when they cash out on you, especially when you are trying to play smart. This is common among those that doesn't have shop.

If you meet an igbo man in his shop, he will like to sell the exact price to you, so you can come tomorrow or even refer another. It's those that doesn't own shop that may want to chop you once and for good.

But if an hausa man tells you 10k, just calm down and search for any story to tell him. When you two would have had a good gist, price it 9k, he may give you.
This does not include those that sells yam. Those ones a day time robbers. They can tell you a tuber of yam is #3,500. They are not even Nigerians.

An igbo man believes most in turn over.
yoruba man believes in immediate gain on a single product being sold.
Hausa no get any strategy, na their mood dey determine.

Bought an item for 2000 to sell it 2500 and make a profit of 500. After selling, i went back to restock and was told the item now sells for 2550. Will you give me the extra 50 to add to it ??

The price of goods increased the moment dollar increased to 580.

The reason for the everyday increament is because the traders are gradual in implementing the price increament to avoid shock response from customers.

The increament will continue until equilibrium price is attained.

The traders bear part of the burden just to keep you as a customer but y'all won't know.

The businessman has to absorb some the economic pressure on behalf of his customers so that they won't be overwhelmed.
