Starboytwo:If he isn’t going to a top 4 team in Epl, there’s no point signing for a mid table team. |

Barryseal:Seems like you forgot that Osimhen only season with Lill was cut short due to the covid-19 pandemic... He ended the season as 4th top scorer in the league and Lille top scorer in all competition with 18 goals... |

Mujtahida:Eguavoen changed his tactics against Tunisia to be defensive, instead of sticking to his strong method which is attacking football and pressing football... He showed Tunisia too much respect maybe due to the fact that in 2004 he lost to Tunisia and then Okoye's error messed his defensive plan up... Nigeria does not need a coach who changes tactics due to the opposition they are playing or what happened in the past between S.E coach and the opposition team. How are you sure Eguavoen won't play defensive against Ghana or play the inner Rohr spirit. Rachety, tetchy, broken football they played against Tunisia ![]() If Eguavoen retains the job then he should stick to attacking football from the 1st half till the final whistle is blowned... |

Samuel Kalu started as a midfielder but now plays as a Winger. Who knows,he may be the no 10 we all have been looking for! |

Barryseal:Osimhen is better. Remember, Osimhen didn't finish his season at Lille because of COVID. Lille played only 28 games out of 38. That was his first and only season. He scored 13 goals with 5 assists in 27 games, finishing as the 4th highest goalscorer in the entire league. David has been at Lille for two seasons. His first season was when Lille won Ligue 1. David had the same 13 goals, but with 3 assists and across 37 games. That's 10 more games to get similar stats. In fact, Lille's highest goalscorer Yilmaz had only 16 goals in the entire season. Technically, Victor performed better in 3/4th of a season in his first season at Lille than David did in his full first season. That's pure stats, not even going to off the ball stuff like pressures, aerial duels won, hold up play etc. |

Barryseal: Starboytwo: You clearly missed the point. You are talking about goals but there is more to a striker than goals. Starboytwo is clearly talking of playing style and you are talking of goals. He feels Osimhen offers more in play than Jonathan David after watching both players. |

codemaniacs: It is called game management. It was not a defensive tactic but a mid-block. If you go gung-ho against a side good at keeping the ball, you play into their game. He kept a midblock meaning you press when the ball gets into the mid-zone. Also, to keep the player fit for a high press in the second half. In the second half, you will watch the clock and increase the press as time ticks. However, that goal spoilt the Dynamics but did not ruin the plan. To me, that was sound strategic planning. |

fabyom:I am for Eguavoen continuing. If Rohr was given 5 years, why not give Eguavoen a run of time rather than baulk under this defeat. It's all about nurturing the potential we have all seen into something potent and lethal |

TheGoodJoe:Even in playing style, Jonathan David is a renound team player, he fights for the team. He has about 5 assits this season and he is ambidextrous. The only 2 footed player I have seen since Santi Carzola. So what playing style are you really talking about? |

kingphilip:If you go about it that way, Jonathan David currently has the same goal and assists as Osimhen at the same point the season Osimhen played. So how is Osimhen better than him? |

drDoom3:Vlahovic doesn’t just wanted to leave but Fiorentina wanted to sell A player that was purchased for 1.9 million euros was sold for 75 million euros and he replacement was bought from FC Basel for 15 million euros Cool business ![]() |

drDoom3:Jonathan David wasn't the main striker last season. Thank God you mention Burak Yilmaz who was the main striker while Jonathan was the second striker and evn played in midfield at times till this season, when Jonathan played ahead of Yimaz. We can roll back the years to their time in Belgium where Jonathan David (23) recorded more goals in Belgium than Osimhen(20). So when you say Osimhen is better, I want to know the metric used to assess and find him better. |

Tunisia Lost to Mali, Gambia and BF without scoring a goal but almighty ghen ghen football fell to a dead team. Before the BF match I called Tunisia a dead team and that is what they are. |

Mujtahida:I'm really wondering... Part of the reason could be due to our goalkeeping coaching department... Maybe it's time for Alloy Agu to quit that role... |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Barryseal: 8:52am On Jan 30, 2022*. Modified: 9:58am On Jan 30, 2022 |
TheGoodJoe:The first thing you compare strikers with are goals before looking at other things. Alvaro Morata would have been classified as world class and potential Balon dor contender if strikers weren't judged on goals. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:06am On Jan 30, 2022 |
Mujtahida: If Eguavoen continues, he needs to make a hard choice. I know Alloy Agu used to be a teammate, and number one goalkeeping choice at one time with the Super Eagles, however, goalkeepers make or break teams. Sometimes, I wonder what would have been of Mancini at Manchester City, if he did not have Joe Hart performing at that level. Eguavoen needs to know we need a goalkeeper coach that will work with the team scouts to find three high-grade keepers. They must not come from clubs in Europe or America. They could come from the local leagues. We should scout academies in Europe and locally. Donnarumma was 16 years old when he made his debut for AC Milan. So the spread should be wide. Eguavoen needs to insist on this, three to five names. If indigenous, they can start camping locally earlier than when the squad arrives but we need to treat the goalkeeping role seriously if we are to achieve something from this generation of footballers. |
