We can try a three man midfield of Onyeka, Ndidi and Aribo....but none is a playmaker.

Honestly, we don't have to invite Nwakali since he is useless and caused us the lost.....we can invite Amoo, still. Amoo is a proper midfielder.
I didn't say Nwakali is useless. Just y'all fans to be factual and reduce the unnecessary hype.
Many people in this 21st century still thinks a playmaker means a No. 10.
I'm aware we need a good number 10 to control the flow of our game but we're asking for too much. We might not have the likes of Okocha or Mikel for a long period of time. Amoo ain't a 10. He's actually a winger.

Exactly, chief. Funny peeps we've here.

He absolutely didn't..

Aina was getting into offensive positions that Chukwueze should have been getting into and at the same time Aina also had to get back into defensive positions since Chuks wasn't helping defensively...

Chuks is too lazy for the S.E..
One of the reasons we lost to the Tunisians is Chukwueze starting the game and not being yanked off at half time cost us the AFCON..

Aina playing with Chukwueze in the 442 formation was probably just as frustrating for him as it was for us watching.

No matter how you try to sugar coat it, Eguavoen's tactics cost us that game.. He had no Plan B..

Everyone knew eyes would be on Simon, and Eguaveon didn't make any alternative plan for this. Not even try switch Simon and Chuks positions to see if they can stretch the Tunisia defense by playing on the line and pulling out instead of their predictable cutting in from the wings...

And also, how did Eguavoen decide to not include Ejuke in the squad for a knockout game? Did he underestimate Tunisia to the extent that he didn’t think he would need a player like Ejuke who would be very useful in creating spaces and unlocking a stubborn defense? That was an unacceptable blunder.
What should Eguavoen unlock again when the team has unlocked the opposition and created 13 chances in the game?

The tactics delivered. We created the chances but did not take them.

You talk tactics when the team is not creating chances.

Finito.

As I said preference. Working with the other players must not be tracking back. It is getting the ball to them when they are in space. Also when Aina goes forward, being in a supporting position to work with him to create channels to attack.

Also giving vital passes to players when they are in offensive areas. Not just tracking back.
You must always have excuses to protect Chuks.. you must be benefitting from chuks financially to be creating excuses for him..

He was crap at the AFCON despite his goal. A player like Chuks should be getting into scoring positions often like the goal he scored..

It's not Aina's job to get into scoring positions..

That was actually the tactics and Chukwueze adhering to it. He drifts into a slightly central role to allow room for Aina to push. Keep in mind that Chukwueze will be marked to create room for Aina.

The midfield has not won if the opposition is creating more chances. What win games is simple. Taking your chances. Not winning midfield battles. If you win midfield battles and you do not create and take chances, it is useless.
Winning the midfield battles are the very first steps to winning the game. I'm not contradicting your opinion on our chances. I was skeptical on our choice of Strikers. I advocated for Cyriel Dessers since our main men were unavailable.

A SUGGESTION

Extra times shouldn't have half time, the players don't need it and it interrupts the whole momentum of the game

Bye bye

Gabaski might win Goalkeeper of the tournament. He's literally the reason why Egypt is still moving. This guy is inspiring to the team. Marshaling his defense like a true Goalkeeper. He has the guts of a real Cairo man.

I was one of the first and the loudest to crucify Chuks here. I even wanted him dropped for not playing to instructions. Now you are saying I am defending him.

I criticized Chukwueze heavily in the first game because of tactics. Now I am impressed with his improvement because of tactics, you are sad.

The coach was in for a short time and you can not invite all. In the last game, we saw how important Sadiq was when we needed to go direct. As much as we like Dessers, I doubt he would have brought the kind of presence Sadiq brought.

Awo did well against Egypt. No guarantee Dessers would have been the difference. They tried and gave their hearts.

A winger must not always run with the ball. Sometimes he needs to make room for his teammates to operate.

Chuks worked with Aina, Iheanacho and Awoniyi. Made some tidy drops for Ndidi and Aribo.

Running with ball is not the only work of the winger.

Chuks was actually sound to me. I think the coaching crew really worked on him. He made many right decisions, especially in the early part of the game. He connected with his team mates well, especially when he was in tight spaces.

Read my criticism of Chukwueze after the Egyptian game before you say I am defending him.

TheGoodJoe:

Let us follow the issue on ground. Not respecting Chukwueze.

The fact on ground is that Chukwueze should learn how to play with the full-back. There were times Aina made daring runs but Chukwueze chose to ignore him, making runs with the ball and losing it.

When Iwobi came on, his link-up play with Aina was better.

As a coach, watching from the sidelines, the key thing to try to assess is your tactic. In terms of both how well it's been carried out by your players or how well it's working against your opponent..

You are playing against the Tunisians considered the Italy of North African football,. That’s how their fellow North African countries see them. They say never go a goal down against Tunisia..You’re toast if that happens.

They tend to become more defensive and harder to break down. It doesn't necessarily mean you won't win, it just becomes harder.

They score You first and then they sit a little deeper, a bit narrower because you are the stronger team..

A smart coach shouldn't have waited late into the second half when we were trailing by a goal to react, right on the hour mark of second half an intelligent coach should have already prepared subs and tweak his formation with Onyeka coming in to support Ndidi; thus nullifying the Tunisians in the midfield and give Aribo more luxury to press forward with Simon playing a more inverted role with special instructions to either of the full backs playing behind him to stretch out the flanks more by providing overlapping runs...

All this one is a long story. You can only make all those switches when you are not creating chances. Eguavoen showed brilliance all through.

Even after going a goal down, then having a player who was to implement a high press get a red card, he made a tactical switch that worked. We just did not take our chances.

All this criticism would have been okay if we were not creating chances. But, we were creating chances. You criticize the coach when the team is not creating chances. You change systems and tactics to create chances.

We created loads of chances.
