I go weak. He has potential but he's just too comfortable.

I don't like this angle with Alfred. Alfred is supposed to be the humanity of Bruce Wayne.

You wanted a Batman movie that won’t do something that has been done before, better don’t complain now grin

Not bad actor per say. He's just comfortable being typecast.

This. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Not everyone. Those who are familiar with the character won't find it funny. That's the problem of The Rock, he never wants to go out of his comfort zone.......

But why should he? He is one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors, thanks to being a one trick pony.

Then why is he an actor? When you keep repeating a role, it becomes you. It's no longer acting at that stage.

I was joking, but I don’t think Alfred will be full blown unhinged like Batman. He may be more like the Gotham’s version rather than TDK’s own.

Minemrys:

My point exactly, though from a different angle. The man has potential but he doesn't try to make his character look different even though he keeps getting the tough guy role. His expressions, speech partner, mannerisms, accent are all the same, one note. Some actors even if they keep playing the same character, they change things. I don't want to see Hobbs while watching Black Adam
you know the answer to the bolded already grin grin

His popularity does not seem to be affected by the repetitive role; in fact, the reverse appears to be true. Why should he alter the very thing that has brought him so much money?

Alter it, how? Dude, we are just asking him to be better. I have seen the Rock act better and different, he can do better.

He was a bit kinda different in Jungle Cruise. That movie showed me he could be different if he wanted to put in work.

I just hope the director could push him more and the fact that he's always wanted to play the character, he gives more than the usual.

Aren't you the one who wants him to put forth more effort? Why would he do that when he's making a lot of money portraying versions of himself, and now you're acting perplexed?? Lmao.

Regardless, the claim that Dwayne can act better is untrue. He consistently chooses the same role, because he lacks range. He's well aware that he's a mediocre actor, so he keeps to his strengths. Wishing for him to be anything other than Rock in his projects is like to wishing for the rain to stop falling.

The Rock is a good actor, saying he isn't good is one just lying to himself. He's good but not versatile. If he wasn't good, he won't be a well sought after actor, his films won't be enjoyed by lots of people and he won't be highly successful in Hollywood. No one gets that kind of success and reception by luck, it's by how good you are, so the dude is good

But the problem there is, he isn't versatile, that is, he isn't good at playing multiple roles or personalities rather he's just good at playing only one type of role or personality, and the funny thing is it works for him, that's what made him successful.

The Rock is just like Ryan Reynolds, they both aren't versatile, they play the same character or role. Rock is an action guy while Ryan Reynolds is an action, comic and sex appeal guy, and that's the role they play in all their films respectively. The Rock just like Ryan Reynolds have mapped out a niche or role for themselves and they play it damn well. So will you say Ryan Reynolds is a bad actor, NO, that will just be you being outrageous. Ryan is good but he isn't versatile same as the Rock.

There's a huge difference between not being good and not being versatile, they're different things, not the same. Both Gal Gadot and The Rock are good but Gal is versatile unlike Rock, she play any role or personality or character very well unlike the Rock

It is good if the Rock expands his acting capacity, it's called development but it is also not bad if he chooses to focus on his strength or niche so far it's working for him, no problem although expansion is better.

At times rather than try multiple things, it's better to just find your strength or what works for you and focus on it.

Take a look at Kevin Hart, he's a comic actor and it's working for him. He doesn't bother himself trying to play other roles or character but take a look at Tryre Gibson, that guy is a comic actor but he has been trying to play a dark tone character which of course sucks.

The Rock is good but not versatile, saying otherwise is just one being funny. It's good if he expands his capacity, I personally wants that but if he chooses to focus on his strength or niche which has and is bringing in huge success for him, then no P.

Besides, let's Black Adam be released first before you start judging his acting, who knows, we might get something different from him. His accent should not be a yardstick to measure his acting, besides, the Rock has been taking about doing something different with Black Adam, lets just wait and see if he will keep to his word. Let the movie be released first before we start judging, doing otherwise is just one being irrational

Exactly. The man can act differently, which is why I am disappointed seeing Hobbs in many of his roles.

maybe he's seen a movie where she was different from what we have seen in her movies because she's not versatile, she's same as the Rock and Reynolds.

She is. If you check up her films you will notice the difference in roles. No doubt she plays the same action role but with a difference. The Gal I saw in Wonder Woman is different from the one I saw in Fast and furious, keeping up with Jonnasses (whatever the name is), Red Notice etc. Hoping to see more of that in Death in the Nile. Unlike The Rock and Ryan Reynolds that act basically the same in all their movies, Gal does things differently, her portroyals are always unique and different even though it's in the same action role, it's just like Samuel L Jackson acting when it comes to his performance as Nick Fury and his other action films, you will notice the difference even though it's the same action genre.

That's why I said she's versatile. When I say versatility, I aren't talking about acting in a different genre but rather playing a different character or having different protrayals/ performance even if it's in the same genre.

Dwayne Johnson is nothing like Ryan Reynolds, It's laughable to even compare the two. Dwayne portrays the same character in every film because he's incapable of playing anything else. Furthermore, he can't play anything else because not only will he appear out of place, but his fans won't want to see him play anything else. As a result, he plays up the charismatic and explosive action figure, sometimes humorously, and gets paid to do what he enjoys.

Ryan Reynolds, on the other hand, is a very skilled actor with strong acting chops who can mix it up, has played nuanced roles in the early days, but prefers to stay in a role that he's more comfortable with, which has in turn made him one of the most sought after comic actors on the globe. He, unlike Dwayne, exist in a typecast bubble purely by choice.

To be blunt, Gal Gadot is a bad actress. Technically, she is versatile due to her varied roles, but she is uninteresting in them because she can't conjure up a believable emotion to save her life. She's no Margot Robbie.

Have you seen this movie starring Reynolds and Denzel Washington? How about Burial? Reynolds has played different characters before. Even though he now seems to be playing the same roles, he plays them in different ways in that you can't compare free guy with the role he played in red notice or Deadpool. But the rock plays Hobbs every time aside the movie where he played a cripple, Central Intelligence (he played something close to Hobbs but very different in a way).
You can play the same role but make it different.

Have you seen WW84 or Criminal? Speaking of emotions, many of the roles she has been in don't let her to be emotional. She has always played the tough woman but differently. When she is asked to be emotional or vulnerable, she does it well. Watch Criminal and WW84.

I exaggerate, obviously. It's my way of saying she's shouldn't be headlining blockbusters. And no, she didn't emote particularly well in WW84, and she was similarly wooden in Red Notice. I haven't seen "Criminal," so I can't comment on it, but she's more or less bland in the few films in which I've seen her perform.

As others have said, it's not really that Gal doesn't take different roles. It's that she plays those different roles the same way. Leaning on her exotic sex appeal factor for just about all of her roles.
