Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola Journey Into Political Oblivion Commences by Castednationinf: 8:35pm On Feb 15, 2022 |
……. Chickens are coming home to roost in Lagos & Osun
…. Bi ere bi awada …. Aregbesola n wo ile lo ….
Nigeria's Minister of Interior Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola is no doubt a grass root politician, Islamic scholar and a self styled comrade. He was one of Bola Tinubu‘s greatest allies, right hand man and prime enforcer. Until the centre could not old between the duo in recent months.
Aregbesola's decades support and political yeoman jobs for Bola Ahmed Tinubu earned him works and infrastructure commissioner uninterruptedly for eight years (1999 to 2007) in Lagos State, apex political leadership in the Alimosho federal constituency of Lagos State and a two term governorship of Osun State, all on the graces, contacts and financial might of Tinubu.
After his stint as Governor he attempted to come to Lagos State to take up Lagos West Senatorial seat. He was casually resisted by the then Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and other Lagosians who rightly counselled Tinubu that a former Governor from another State should not come and take such an important position to the detriment of indigenes and politicians domiciled in the State. Tinubu's spouse Senator Remi Tinubu openly counselled Aregbesola on his "Thank You" tour to Tinubu's Lagos residence, after his gubernatorial tenure to stay put in Osun and grow the party, in other words he is a distraction in Lagos politics. This action by Ambode and other well meaning inner caucus of Tinubu drew the ire of Aregbesola who vowed to stop Ambode’s second term bid. He conscripted the late Senator Bayo Oshinowo (Pepper), Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, (Lagos State Speaker), Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, (Yayi), Tayo Ayinde (Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu Chief of Staff), Cardinal James Odumbaku, (Baba Eto) from his political enclave, the Mandate Group and a host of others to convince a gullible Tinubu that Ambode was trying to supplant Asiwaju as the new numero uno in Lagos politics.
They succeeded and Tinubu decided to drop Ambode in favour of a grateful Sanwoolu.
However in a twist and turn of events, Aregbesola began to work with the late Oshinowo and his other co travellers on how to supplant Tinubu as leader in Lagos politics.
Immediately Tinubu sensed this Aregbesola led power stripping gang up, he dissolved the Mandate Group alongside other groups in Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC), he derobed Alhaji Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo who Aregbesola in the meeting made Mandate Group new State Chairman, he severed all ties with garrulous Oshinowo which accelerated his demise and also cut off Aregbesola who had also begun to nurse presidential ambitions. He saw through Oshinowo's leakages of Lagos State House of Assembly vouchers to implicate Speaker Obasa and by extension himself.
Tinubu slowly but steadily has begun to squeeze out and whittle down Aregbesola’s influence in his Alimosho stronghold, by promoting HE Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, the remnants of the Justice Forum and anti Aregbesola / Enilolobo elements in the constituency.
Osun State Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola was also directed by Tinubu to decisively deal with and demystify Aregbesola by rolling back all his unpopular policies to the glee of many indigenes of the state of living spring.
The rest as they say is history. Aregbesola is now fighting for his political life in Osun. He has lost control of the APC party structures in the state and all the cases he has filed in court have been thrown out with ignominy.
The APC National Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC recognised the Oyetola faction and Oyetola is set to clinch the APC ticket despite the tantrums of Aregbesola and his diminishing supporters, the Governor has the backings of all men of worth in the state, to the chagrin of Aregbesola and his co travellers .
It is indeed ironical that within just 3 years the same evil that Aregbesola perpetuated against Ambode and uncountable others is being visited on him by God who does not forget, who rewards according to actions and inactions. Retributive justice can be swift and decisive as the sun begins to set on Rauf Aregbesola’s political career.

I vividly remember the day he was made the governor of Osun state. In almost every sentence he made he would mention Tinubu's name. Praising him like mad. But today, it is no longer .... Center cannot no more hold. If APC loses in Osun, the governor ( Oyetola ) will be humiliated but that if Aregbesola will be worst. He will face humiliation in Osun as well as Lagos. He should therefore take it easy. 6 Likes |

Fallacious write up.
How many of you (not even as Governor) can take what Aregbesola took. He was denied the right to provide his successor, he didn't fight. Tinubu fostered OLETOLA on him and everyone which made progressives even departed Aregbesola then. He was blamed and insulted mercilessly.
Yet the same person OLETOLA, keep whiting down his achievements/influence(names) in the name of what! SHOULD HE KEEP QUIET? NEVER
He keep attacking and bringing down ANYTHING Aregbesola. Local government chairman who attended the turbaning of Aregbesola was SACK BY OLETOLA. Same party for that matter
He's alone because he has fought and charged almost all the leaders into Court, that's why they're capitalising on Indirect primary. Or Those claimed strong politician who are with OLETOLA Should be mentioned.
CEPCE should dare conduct DIRECT PRIMARY election if they know Aregbesola is NOBODY.
Aregbesola is here to stay, he has made his name already. His street CREDIBILITY is still very much there.
If Mashood Adeoti didn't have the ticket, OLETOLA is not returning as Governor.

Is Aregbe the first Gov to be denied right to annoint his successor in a party; did Amosun annoint? Did Ajimobi annoint? I can mention over 10 governors in the history books that didn't annoint for their party; and over 30 that didn't successfully annoint for their States! However, a). How many (ex) state Governor of another State controls a large part of another State ? b). How many (ex) State Governor decides the representative of another State or are you saying people don't know Late Pepper, Hon. Kuye rep Somolu, Hon. Agunloye and about 3/4 other Abuja reps member and 6/7 Lagos House of Assembly members were singlehandedly annointed by Aregbe for Lagos without winning primary elections c). How many (ex) State Governor of another State controls the biggest local govt in another State Your last statement is apt: they should all break the eggs, both Oyetola and Adeoti should lose the guber election to PDP (wasn't it rerun APC used to win 4yrs ago with Aregbe so called support!). Lagos APC too should lose so both Tinubu and Aregbe, and their underperforming stooges should lose the election to worthy candidates Good riddance to bad rubbish! Their serious infighting is a "welcome development". Hopefully it will lead to a correction of the remote control - according to PMB - used to get the governorship for APC four years ago. We also hope that it will further herald their removal from this country and restore their contributing parties to their former regional positions. 1 Like |

What I don't understand in this story is the illegal power Tinubu is using
How can he derob mandate group, suspend APC power blocks, decide who runs etc when he has no official party capacity at the national or state level
Even party executive still need wide consultation to do all these |
