For one, Indianapolis is filled with lots of Nigerians and lots of African stores. No dull moment once you mix with them.

Yes, lots of Nigerians/ Africans/ Blacks in Indianapolis .....but very low percentage for the entire State. Better for people to focus on cities than States.

can you please enlighten us in the par you used?? No offense.

I have lived in the UK for several years before relocating to the USA. Believe it or not, the USA is miles ahead of the UK in most areas of life. Nigerians/ foreigners do better for themselves in the USA than the UK, and the USA has far more opportunities than the little UK.
I have experienced both places and I cannot imagine living in the UK ever again.

Racism rampant in the USA? LOL, not true at all.

I personally think there's very little racism in the USA, it's negligible. Let's put it this way, racism in the USA is much less than the tribalism in Nigeria. Add to that, the standard of living compensates mightily for whatever discomforts you might experience.

All these threads and comments comparing the USA to Nigeria would be more credible if participants used their real names. I've lived in the USA over 30 years, I arrived as a teenager and have lived in different states. I also moved back to Nigeria at a point and lived there for a while. So I think I know what I'm on about. Racism has been a very minor issue for me in the USA, it's not even an issue really. I definitely experienced more prejudice in Nigeria.

As for migration, for a Nigerian of poor or average means, the USA is definitely a better place to live in ALL respects. I hope the people in Nigeria will find a way to improve their country. I truly wish the best for the people of Nigeria.

Have a good Sunday.

Yes, racism is rampant in the USA! You are most likely living in a city with large numbers of Blacks and hence your limited experience with racism. Another thing, people can even experience racism and not even aware that they are experiencing it. If you live in a predominantly white neighborhood or city.....you will definitely experience lots of racism. Those that live in Black neighborhoods would have different kind of experience. I am calling it as it is.
My advice for Nigerians coming over to the USA, please plan well and come over....but do your due diligence and live in a city with lots of Blacks and you would have lots of great experiences.

There are many States with high population of Nigerians/ Africans/ Blacks in general. Examples: Maryland, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Washington DC (Not a State, but capital territory), Virginia, California, Georgia, etc. You can go online and research each State and the cities with lots of Blacks.

Superb! Thanks a whole lot Sir

No it's not. If it were such a problem very few Nigerians or Black people from all over the world would be migrating here. I know many Nigerians that have migrated here from UK, Italy, France. News travels, people talk to their friends and relatives. ALL my family have followed me to live in the USA, if it were so bad I wouldn't have encouraged it.

By the way, prejudice exists EVERYWHERE, it's human nature. I can assure you from experience that it's more of a problem in Nigeria than in the USA. I've lived in majority White cities, majority Black cities, went to both a big White University and a major Black University. I've had a varied experience in my over 30 years here and I know of what I write.

Nigeria is best for highly talented OR rich, well connected people. All others will have a much better life in the USA.

Like many other aspects in life racism has experienced a transition from being overly overt to covert.

It is worrisome that many of the big firms have had same race with minority in management positions. Is it because there are no qualified blacks? No. I worked in a company of 47 whites and wondered why I was the only different guy in a black dominated city. Many institutions have been promoting DEI because of this.

When you also look at reports you will see that in many cities as a black you're more likely to be given a speeding ticket than a white. CNN did a comprehensive analysis on this using data from several cities. You may be surprised to know that the police can go as far as fabricating evidence to achieve convictions.

This is 2022. I don't think anyone is going to scream at you because of your race but these traits are evident in everyday life. From the Nurse assistant to the Medical doctor to the Professionals C executives they face subtle racism every single day.

The best way to ensure that Blacks are in management positions is for Blacks to form their own corporations and institutions and make sure they compete and win in the market place. Another way is to consciously direct your economic spending to Black owned businesses. There's no secret to this, it's just the way life is. Human beings are naturally and innately discriminatory. That is why children survive...parents discriminate in their favor.

It's more nuanced than that.

Have a good day.
