Except you step on big toes and do not want to be found out, or into criminal activities, there's no need to use a VPN.

And VPNs drain battery, slows down phones most times and browsing speed. Many people have a moment of inelastic patience where they just login without these tools in the middle of the night or forget to logout before logging in with their other accounts. Plus we have mannerisms we can't hide, and anyone looking well and deep enough can connect the dots.

Best bet is to not fake it. You are only anonymous because you haven't offended anyone badly enough to look into you.
