Problem With Clearing Agents by Jestin: 4:02pm On Feb 19, 2022
Please what is the problem with clearing agents at Tin-Can seaport in Lagos ? My vehicle arrived in Nigerian since four days now but the agent handling the clearing said they are yet to evaluate the car for clearing. I want to know if the agent is giving me excuse and what is actually going on at the port. I will attach some videos he sent me for further clarification

the situation is worrisome. I already paid too and my fear now is if he will come back to ask for demurrage or more money . I need more opinions my people . Money is very hard to come by this period. Pls also keep me posted regarding yours because my agent is still yet to get back with any candid information

Before blaming your agent, there's a lot going on at the port, the government has introduced vin valuation, which gives a uniform duty for vehicles with same year and model. This is a good idea by the government but the issue right now is that the value the government has placed on their systems is very high.
As of today it costs between 750- 850k to clear a 2004 Camry .
If this holds you are definitely sending your agent more money grin

I am praying it doesn’t hold and my question is since the car has been in Nigeria port for over a week now , won’t i be asked to pay demurrage? This situation is really worrisome honestly
