They will weaken Russia's economy, in coordination with their EU allies, internally with sanctions. Amidst other sanctions, they will yank them off from SWIFT system. Russia economy will tank. Taiwan is a different case entirely. US has the responsibility to defend Taiwan. Ukraine is not a NATO member and US has little need to intervene in Ukraine. Ukraine is just good for the US defence system and missile to be installed in Ukraine and for NATO to have a base which will be strategic to fight Russia militarily, if need be.

That's alliance has been solid for almost a century now. They fought together against the west in both Korea and Vietnam.. They vote along the same lines in the United Nations security council.. Putin does not get sense. He is encouraging his enemies to have a renewed resolve to stand up against his country. Only Belarus is close to Russia. Other countries in the eastern flanks are in NATO except Ukraine. Putin does not have the monopoly of violence. People have been shouting of hypersonic missiles which US is also currently building but take it, there are some undisclosed devastating capabilities in the US arsenal. Have you checked the US annual military budget compared to China's and Russia's own? Do you know the number of nuclear powered sub the US possess.
Be guided, US is a beast! They simply want to avoid nuclear war with Putin but there are ways they can get into Russia without a shot fired. Trust me.

If China invades Taiwan this night, The US will NEVER intervene militarily. That's a no no. China is so close to Taiwan, that America will need to have a weapon big enough to deter china from thinking of an invasion. That obviously is either a nuke or chemical weapons. If the Americans don't have such in Taiwan already, it means they are not eager for a military confrontation Incase China invades, and The Taiwanese know..

But America can still punish China severely, that's economically, diplomatically and politically, through massive sanctions with her allies. That might effect Chinas rapid economic growth, thereby causing unpredictable reactions at home. The realization that such sanctions and gang up Will hurt, and the fact that the Taiwanese will put up a bloody resistance is the only reason the Chinese have not invaded that tiny swat of land. Not the fear of wars. Nobody fights a direct war with a nuclear power like China or the US or Russia!
