If the receiver didn't get ab email or sms, or no change in his previous balance...

A customer tried this with me (A woman for that matter) of 40k.... she even sent me fake alerts on WhatsApp... lol... thank God I reconfirmed through mail and statement of account.....

It won't be credited. Most duped sellers relied on the fake receipt generated by the scammer all in the name of not wanting to embarrass and keep the buyer waiting for long

After getting alert don't its always advisable to check your bank account balance either thru USSD or Mobile bank app to confirm.
