I agree, it would be terrible, perhaps billions would die in the worst case scenario, but no war can end the world. People would remain. Only a cosmic / galactic disaster can end the world as we have no control over those. But for wars, when death reach extreme levels and hunger, disease and war stress set in we would give up the fight. That is what makes us humans, there is a level to which we can keep fighting or endure seeing our people die
