Your likes have been pushing for political solutions ..yet can't get state police or restructuring by political process ...when then should ipob listen to follow a political process

Give me a reason to show north can be lobbied ...just asking
then tell ipob to start the war, they should go and attack abuja.

Forget ipob here ... people who believe in one Nigeria restructured Nigeria should lead by example

Do u want Nigeria as it is ?

Nigeria definitely needs restructuring but this means different things to different people depending on which region you are from. Hence why it would be difficult to satisfy all zones. But we need to start from somewhere.

For me, lets start here...

1. They should start with a phased increase of derivation for oil producing states from the current 13% to 50% over a 5 year period. The ultimate aim should be to grant 100% resource control to states for Onshore oil fields. Offshore oil fields should still be kept under Federal Government ownership.
2. Reduce number of House or Reps from the current 360 to about 100. And then gradually phase them out and only have Senators.
3. Merge some states together over a period of time to reduce the numbers. The ultimate aim is to go back to the 6 regions we used to have before.
...and the list goes on and on.

At this state, I wouldn't include state police. The cons outweigh the pros at this very unstable time for the country.

when the north was doing well in agriculture and the south West was doing well in agriculture and education. Ironsi saw that his people has nothing to show, that is why he stop the regional government. He decided that all Nigerians must share their resources with the igbos. Now the same igbos are crying.

How would Nigeria be restructured when they have the numbers ? So truth is supporting group like IPOB ( tho not the best ) is the surest way to get restructuring

Imagine if kanu was out raging , igboho was out ragging ...south south had their own ...them no born them well not to restructure

You spoilt everything by mentioning ipob ,you made some good points though.
Supporting ipob,a group that went about jubilating over the killings of Igbos on Igbo soil, just to spite their enemy, makes you worse than the one Nigerianist.

I wouldn't call the North Central "Northerners" when it comes to voting for constitutional change. Half of them will support the agenda of the South (Kwara, Kogi, Benue and possibly Plateau). So a good campaign can force a constitutional amendment but you will also need some Northerners to support you.

South
HoR = 169 (47%
Senators - 51 (47%)

North Central
HoR = 49 (14%)
Senators - 18 (17%)

North
HoR = 142 (39%)
Senators - 40 (37%)

Now with these figures, how will IPOB get the 67% or two third majority vote needed to pass a motion on referendum? Its impossible

Those who want restructuring cant even get that

do you forget that Nigeria was practicing regional government before? Do you know that the same igbos crying for restructure were the people that destroyed our regional government?
The igbos must tell us why they support unity government in the sixties but are against it now.
We must do what every geopolitical region will be comfortable with.

Without peace, our country won't develop

The whole 18 southern governors ( yes plus Benue ) came together and demanded restructuring and state police yet it was snubbed by the Northern controlled national assembly what they do you think mere 5 or even at most 7 Igbo governors demand for referendum
How do you convince IPOB to go through political means when it's obvious Nigeria's mostly parasitic core north have too much influence and would destroy every attempt on politically restructuring the country
With all this does one still have to blame ipob and the numerous self determination groups for not going through the political means ? Have Nigeria made it possible to adjust the country to accommodate everyone through political means ?

So to those who believe in one Nigeria what's your plan now

How did Igbo have 7 States? This people too funny. Igbo only have 4 States: Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi and Abia States. Anambra is IGALA ancestral State and the North will soon reclaim it.

So if governors 18 in number can't Influence the national assembly what's the point of me getting involved with politics

So you can vote pro restructuring candidates into the National Assembly and also possibly have a pro restructuring president.
Next question please?

What is restructuting?

Because at the end of the day, most of you shout 'restructruing' thinking that it means South would get more oil money than the North.

Really, in its pure form, restructutring means that the South South gets 80% of the oil money, while the South East gets some 20%. Everyone else fends for themselves. And please don't tell me that the South west can survive, because if it could, it would have long since stopped relying on subventions from Abuja, plus the South west does not have an actively exporting industrial sector.

And even with the South South getting most of the oil money...oil prices are going to fall.

Anyway, that means that most regions are going to be broke, and there would be a big war over resources, which you won't want and you won't like.

Me, I think we should get off oil by

1.Removing subsides on power and petrol

2.This would mean increased investment in both sectors

3.Enough electricity and power to power industries and industrial growth in all states

4.Which would mean increased exports of industrial goods

5.Now we can talk of restructuruing and even secession.

Plus, get the 70% of Nigerians to pay taxes.

Restructurting is just something used by Nigerian politicans to get votes. They know very well it is not possible in reality for now.. And yes, as a Southerner, I know it ain't. And I don't like it. But here we are.

Who is supposed to do all these you itemized?

Where do you think your states get money from?

All of them are oil dependent. And all of them will not and cannot be able to survive without oil money.

It's harsh, and it is the truth. That's why there would be war. Or alternatively, short term, all of them charge high taxes on everyone, which could lead to unrest.

We are not in the 1960's anymore, and even if we were, our production won't be enough to sustain our large population.

Suppose there is no money from sales of crude oil to Anambra, Ogun, Kwara, Kano, Nasarawa and Ebonyi States, do you think all the people in these States will just die off or what do you mean they can't survive without money from oil?
