helinues: I don't know what you are talking about. Igbo musicians always add Igbo to their songs. Wizkid has had to use Igbo words too in his songs, Davido and co too. 4 Likes |

Omo I cannot ooooh make I no lie. I went to a market in Abuja months back to get something and the guy was like I don't speak like someone from Imo na so shame catch. I think I'm the only one in my family who can't communicate in Igbo efficiently. My other siblings does and parents rap igbo like music. Well I'm mostly not at home and so I mix up with the non-language speakers and this affects me. You can only know I'm Igbo by my surname, state or somehow physical appearance but a lot of people think I'm from Delta, Kogi or Edo. |

Goodmarlian: It's not the child's fault but the parents who didn't speak or educate them in that aspect.... Like me,in school we speak English but once I'm home, you don't speak English in the house,if dad is talking to you and u mistakenly use English, na resounding slap u go collect.... |

Datikwerreboi:Nonsense. Ekiti peoples Yoruba although might not be fully understood, but there is no way a typical Yoruba man won't understand the whole context of what the Ekiti or Ijebu man is saying. This people act in Yoruba movies speaking with their different intonations and they are still understood. I wonder were these obviously dumb facts come out from. Moreover there is a general Yoruba toungue without any predominant thick intonations, Yoruba people also use to communicate among each other. There is nothing like ekiti language. 2 Likes |

Billingslord: The igbo language and culture is actually more interesting and beautiful than yoruba and hausas most white people love the igbo language it's the political marginalization of the igbos in nigeria that's actually the root cause of these. 1 Like |

As for Yorubas, our afrobeat musicians that are making waves all across the world have made the Yoruba language to be cool for Yoruba Children born in the diaspora because they sing majorly in Yoruba language. It has connected the Yoruba Children back to their root and it makes them to understand the language better. Go to any Davido,Wizkid or Burna's concert in UK or US and you will hear these diasporean kids speaking Yoruba slangs like they were born in Naija.....Let us preserve our culture o!!! 3 Likes |
