On Monday, Governor Sani Bello of Niger State, took control of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He took charge as the party leadership turned against Governor Mai Mala Buni who stepped into the chairman’s office in 2020.

Shortly after taking over, Bello has received a report of the party’s zoning committee ahead of the convention.

In an interview with newsmen after the event, the Niger governor said his role at the party’s national secretariat has President Muhammadu Buhari’s blessing.
Just last month, Bello endorsed National Leader of the ruling party for the 2023 presidency.
Tinubu is one of the APC stalwarts pushing to succeed Buhari.
Speaking when he received Tinubu at the Niger State government house, the governor described the former Lagos State governor as a candidate to reckon with.

He said he looked forward to seeing him lay the kind of foundation he laid for the massive transformation in Lagos State for the country.

” Lagos is a country within a country and we saw the foundation you laid there. We are looking forward to seeing you replicate it for Nigeria.”

Will Bello’s short span (he has up till March 26 convention) translate into anything good for Tinubu’s presidency?
