Greyworld:
Bros forget these arm chair scholars. Why would you in the first place compare with the US who is a major importer of crude why not compare the price change with other OPEC Countries or oil Exporting nations...

Now see the difference in the UAE

This is the true reflection of the price of crude and not that product of ineptitude you experience in Nigeria.

Enough of the subsidy sermon .. remove it once and make sure we see the corresponding infrastructure(s) and a subsequent decline in price of goods as local production would be encouraged
And how much is this Dora's in nigeria naira

I know the landing cost nonsense will be their escape route.
How can you explain to sane people that the crude oil you exploited from Nigeria was transported overseas by Nigerian vessels for refining only for the same product to be fared back to Nigeria with a landing cost narrative.
This is absolutely insane and illogical.

The word in the bible holds true for many Nigerians...
My people perish for lack of knowledge

A lot of people just live on this earth without understanding their environment....

Nigeria and the Government is the cause of everything wrong with them and their lives ....

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a39338671/us-gas-prices-skyrocketing-future/..

Due to the sanctions the USA and its Allies are leveling against Russia the second largest producer of crude oil ....The cost of all the components of crude oil has gone up by as much as 50% in majority of countries that import stuffs like Aviation fuel, diesel and petrol....

In Nigeria... unlike sensible countries.... petrol is still been subsidies but kerosene and diesel is not and therefore when there is an increase in the open market....it shows here....

Nigerians should learn to seek for the right information instead of just shouting up and down like fools without knowledge cursing themselves and their country...

The bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge....what you don't know will make everyone know you are a fool

But if Petrol can be sold in the USA that has oil just like majority of Nigerians claim they have for $2-$3 per litre which is approximately 950-1350 naira per litre... I don't understand why we still selling at 165 naira per litre ....

It's suicide and we are killing ourselves gradually....
you are the ignorant one here. Us don't sell per litre. They sell per gallon.

Even labourer gets up to 5aed in an hour so?

Buhari is the father of poverty, I've been saying that for a while now. You can argue & say oil prices are determined by the global market, if you do that, you would also have to tell me if inflation & breakdown of everything are sold on a global market. Now, it's obvious that Buhari only wanted to be Nigeria's president only for the title, he clearly had no vision for the country the 4 times he ran. As terrible as Goodluck Jonathan performed as president, Buhari has even outperformed him(Goodluck) in terrible performance.

Many of u shouting buhari but praise US for their sanctions are completely daft and stupid...

The rise is in aviation fuel is due to crude oil price rising and the artificial scarcity created by the US sanctions..

Buhari or NNPC don't have control over any petroleum product except Gasoline...

To bring down the price..
Dollar has to come down since we import it and dangote refinery has to start working to save shipping cost..
Even at this ..the product must still sell at international price except u want government to subsidize the product too
Oga economist, what is the cost of Nigeria having a functional refinery

And what happened to creating wealth for the citizens to meet some of this demands.

why won't it skyrocket. how are jet fuel produced? are they not produced from crude oil? have nigerian government allowed the owners of crude oil to control this their natural resource and create industry and refineries to produce the finish goods. isn't the northerners and south westerners also fighting for this same oil instead of focusing on their region and their own resources?

I will just advise folks back home in Nigeria to invest some of their savings. It's better to have little trickle in as returns (please ignore all these sharp money doubling schemes) than spend it all trying to survive a bad economy.

Even if it is 2% trickling in monthly, it's still better, honestly. You just have to fashion out a means to brace yourself against the spiralling Nigerian economy.

A word is enough for the wise. 3 million or even 5 million might not necessarily be sufficient to relocate you to Europe or the Americas, but if you put it into something and it's growing slowly but steadily, you can achieve your ambition to move abroad permanently in no time.

I created a discussion around this already and will be willing to engage further discourse on it.

So in your mind, you think you've done a Nobel Prize-worthy economic analysis.
Before you converted the dollar to naira, did you consider things like difference purchasing power, inflation and stuffs? No.

Even if each region control their oil and own refinery

The same goodluck DAT couldn't maintain the refinery or delivery infrastructure even with the relatively good oil prices and production rate...

The reason why we r in this mess is because previous government allowed the local refinery to fail...it is the same buhari that began support modular refinery to come up ..began rehabilitating portharcourt refinery..and supported Dangote massively to start his refinery ...

If goodluck did all this ..won't be have a functioning refinery to alleviate this mess by now?..

You were making sense until you got to the emboldened. There's something called purchasing power (and disposable income). That's why it's misleading to run exchange rate and compare how much commodities are sold in countries.

You see, the US is a rich country, while Nigeria is extremely poor. For instance, the minimum wage in Nigeria is #30k (about $60) per month, while that of the US is $7.25 per hour. If you calculate that in 22 days and 40 hours per week that fed workers do here, you will have over $6k (#3 million) per month.

Now, you tell me, why would anyone who earns that salary have a problem buying gas (as they call it) at $4 per liter or more?

One thing about Americans is that they have an enlightened society. When prices increase, people take to the streets in protest to express their displeasure over price changes.

In Nigeria, it's an entirely different thing. You criticize people in government and their defenders will insult your tribe, gaslight you or call you a wailer as it they don't go through the same hardship.

When Yar adua denied Dangote the privileges of taking over our local refinery and continued to pay heavy subsidies for fuel..Nigerians loved him cuz fuel was cheap and the oil money was still plenty..they didn't know that single decision to keep the refinery moribund will hurt us today.. now every body is at the mercy of Dangote to finish his own....

Yar adua allowed Dangote to buy and repair the refinery.. By now..our economy won't suffer this much...
I will continue to blaim them more than Bubu who is correcting many of their mistakes

That is the impact of deregulation. DPK, AGO, ATK are both deregulated hence their prices are determined by market forces. If petrol gets deregulated sometimes its price may go higher than this.
