Well, Putin didn't envisage this long war and casualties. He didn't expect this massive support for Zelensky the beloved hero of the moment. Zelensky is a Jews, he is tough at heart even though he is very young. Putin envisioned his escape from Ukraine and then a regime change-then end of war. When this didn't happen, he asked the Ukrainian army to capture Zelensky or assassinate him meaning Putin is doubting a quick success of the war. His recent acceptance of over 16k volunteers fighters from middle east tells he is no more willing to allow his citizens (military) die. The volunteers will be nuked by the West missiles.

What Putin should have done: He should have surround Ukraine with heavy military raising tension but not invade her, then use same opportunity to get assurance that Ukraine won't join NATO or EU. He would have even befriend Zelensky to see how not to have NATO base in Ukraine. He is overwhelm by the resistance. He can't afford to use nuclear weapon in Ukraine, for Russia will be turn into a dust. Russia is important to God in the end time.

Ukraine Guerilla warfare is not weak. They are waiting for urban street battles where missiles and such won't matter but man to man shooting holds sway.

Russia are yet to send troops into any City, they only bomb Cities from far. Any army will avoid going into a City against such a motivated opponent whose whole strategy depends on Urban warfare.

The only City Russia need to go into is Kiev. They will not risk street fighting in any other. If they take the seat of Government in Kiev, then Ukraine has to come to the table and accept their terms
