Lekiboboe:

Yes...you you should, that's the minimum requirement, but it varies. Apart from the typical 2.1 requirement, most Canadian Universities will require you to have a strong GPA in your last two years in the University e.g your 400L and 500L.

There are cases whereby some 2.1 dont get admission, and some get it based on their application packaging which makes them competitive e.g Cold mailing a Prof. they share same research interests with (if it's a thesis-based Masters) and securing them before applying for the admission, submitting a well-detailed Academic CV, Strong SOP - Statement of Purpose (also known as Letter of Intent, Letter of Motivation), Personal Statement, Cover Letter etc. You can check the Admission Requirements of a grad program you wanna apply to for details on that.

GRE/GMAT is usually program specific in some Canadian universities, most especially Finance Related program e.g Accounting, Business Administration, Banking (NONSTEM)

Are you a graduate of a Finance related program (NONSTEM) or you are a Science/Engineering graduate (STEM)?

@lekiboboe I’m a graduate of marketing. B.sc with GPA of 3.6 or 3.7 thereabouts. I have requested for my transcript. I’m looking forward to MBA business Administration, supply and chain management or marketing. Pls advice thank you and God bless you.

An easier to convert visit visa to SOWP is by flagpoling (google/search youtube for more info). It's basically going to the border, tell them you're here to flagpole, they allow you walk into US, walk back into Canada and there you tell them what you're there for. You'll need to go with your passport, spouse study permit, not sure what else. Do more research, but yes it's possible.

Duration of visa is on the visa stamp, but one cant stay more than 6 months at a given time
Jacklens:
Good morning, house.
Enquiry.....please.

*If one secures a visit visa; is there any process of writing IRCC to convert it to SOWP, after a spouse secures a study permit?
* What is duration of validity for a visit visa?

Thanks, all.

Ok,

I only know of two schools offering MBA that don't require GRE/GMAT

Check the
MBA program at Thompson River University (TRU), British Columbia, they don't require GRE/GMAT

Visit the link below for more details about the MBA program at TRU
https://www.tru.ca/distance/programs/business-management/mba.html

Also Check the
MBA program at University of Canada West (UCW), British Columbia, a member on this platform confirmed sometime ago that UCW don't require GRE/GMAT, do make your research on that to confirm.

See the link below for more info on the MBA program at UCW

Good evening everybody. Please I have a question. I would really appreciate our help. My friend was in a Nigerian university since 2017, he decided to leave the uniport and look for greener pastures in Canada. For the visa application, do you think he should include the fact that he was in uniport? Please, if you don’t think he should include it, do you know any good way to explain the 4 year gap? Thank you

Hello!

If you'd be applying for fall 23, we can connect and try to work things together. The whole admission and visa thing takes time and God's grace. I'll leave you a message via Nairaland. We can share ideas if you don't mind. I plan to start sending mails as early as May. We'll be fine.

Just sum up your last two years and find the average. In your case, your last two years should be around 85+%.

Thank you sir for your response. I will make use of this sample u have posted

The better way to get thier attention is to talk about them first and not you. Talk about their paper or profile you read and what you find interesting about it.

Dear Professor Kunta,

I read your paper on the destabilization of Nigerian economy. My previous research on the devaluation of naira have similar conclusion to your paper that both issues are a function of ... and .... I would like to explore this or similar topics further. Are accepting graduate students?

I have attached my resume and transcript for your review. I am available to discuss my interest and future potential contribution to your lab. You can reach me on +234807685424 or through other contacts provided on my resume. Thank you.

Point 1: Always start with what the person is doing or need and not you. The truth is that they care more about themselves and their needs and job than you. Even your email subject should focus on them more (e.g. Research inquiry, not prospective international student) if you want better chances that they will read it.

Point 2: Make it short and readable. They receive a lot of emails from potential students. if they spend a lot of time to read everything everyone sent, they won't have time to do their Job. Reading or replying potential student email is not part of their job requirements. They can do without it and recruit directly from their current undergraduate class.

Point 3: You came slightly late. Most professors accept students between July and December for the following September session. Only few accept student for other admission window.

All of these are just my personal opinion. Every individual is different. Just don't give up, but try to do things better. See if you can learn and use one or two things from my points. All the best.

Well, I think applying for both visas at entirely different times would have been better. Applying for Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP) and visitors visa within thesame period of time may give the VO an impression that you wouldn't come back again. It shows some elements of desperation.

But however, I so much believe in the grace of God. Wait for a decision to be taken as regards your SOWP application, then and then you would know the further steps to take.

Kindly keep us informed on the outcome...it will end in your favor.

please i am looking for someone who knows how to write SOP well. any contacts i want to repply for a visitors visa that was rejected.

I assume you are studying outside Quebec. If so, the minimum amount of fund for living expenses alone is 20,000CAD. That is, 10,000 for you, 4,000 for your spouse, and 3,000 each for the kids.

Marike2:

Pls what is the estimated budget for a family of 4? 1 principal applicant for study permit, spouse and 2 kids?

The POF should cover at least a year tuition and living expense.

Put the fee for the total duration. Mention the annual tuition in your LOE and explain how you have covered it.

The POF balance should cover the tuition for a year, but the VO should be convinced that you can pay for subsequent years (e.g. employment status, company income, etc.).

Subtract the first semester fee from the total annual tuition fee. Add the balance to the 1 year living expense (your POF should cover that). Explain this in your LOE too.

kweje:
Hello House, please

For someone going for a 4year University Bsc program and fees is 18,100 Cad, a year. How much should be shown on POF? I know the rule says 1yr tuition & living expense, but the new portal asks for total duration fees.

So what should be Nigerian bank balance on POF. 4yrs tuition or the IRCC rule of 1yr?

Note, 1st semester fees already paid even though the school does not ask for deposit.

Hi guys...I want to as a quick question....is it possible to sponsor yourself as an undergraduate student in canada....and what if you are a forex trader....what are the implications of self sponsoring as a forex trader when the time for declaration of assets and funds come during the visa process...is it good or bad to just show a sizeable lump sum as a proof of fund and will you get refused by the visa officer if he or she thinks you can't continue to pay your fees

I'm not sure. I know CA doesn't acknowledge Bitcoin/crypto as proof of funds or reliable funds.
However, if you're a forex trader as you claim you can therefore prove you are self-employed by listing documentation to verify your claim. Show your trade journals, and provide a verified track record (myfxbook), highlight deposits/profits from your broker(your broker has to be registered, regulated and recognized), your earnings has to be consistent too. Highlight how long you've been trading from your Trading account. I believe trading is a business, so yes with the right documents you can prove your genuineness as an actual fx trader.

You might need to show commitments to prove your admissibility and financial competence. The problem here is the 4 years you are going for. You need to have huge funds to show you can manage. Having tuition for all the 4 years is best. Avoid lump sums except you can prove the source. Let's say you have $150,000 in your trading account highlight that it was deposited from your own account with the same name, to verify it's your funds. Besides, which rational entrepreneur just leaves funds laying in his bank account. So they should understand. The issues is where is this lump sum coming from as they believe it could be borrowed and with liens

Good luck
