Hopefully, the Onitsha Hotel will be completed. If the man who bought the property is unable to complete it, the concessioning contract should be revoked. Based on the location of this property and the propensity of becoming a security threat used by criminals to operate in the area.

This is a good instance of why the state government should think very carefully if it wants to allocate the land inside the ICC to a private individual to build a hotel. Some of these "private" companies are 419 outlets that will take the state funds and simply disappear after a while. I think the same shady company Noiz Konsults was awarded the Onitsha Hotel, Ikenga mall, Awka, and the Nnewi mall. All three projects failed! So the state does not need to be told that Noiz Konsults must not be awarded any further state project.

Sometimes, it is always better for the state government to build the hotel itself and then concession out its management to reputable hotel chains like Transcorp-Hilton, Protea, Marriot, Golden Tulip, Sheraton, Radisson Blu, etc. It is dangerous to sell them a piece of land or a hotel that is 90% completed because they might mess you up and leave it as uncompleted. The way they did for the Onitsha Hotel but the Agulu Lake (Golden Tulip) hotel that was first completed by the state, and then handed over to Golden-Tulip for management has been a success story.

U CANNOT EXPECT SOLUDO TO BUILD THIS AT THE ICC SITE.

RATHER, THEY SHOULD SOURCE THE PROJECT TO MULTINATIONAL HOTELS OR OTHER INVESTORS, EVEN AKWA IBOM STATE GOV WITH EXCESS CASH, OR DR MADUKA OR ANY OTHER MONEY BAG IN ANAMBRA, THAT CAN MEET THEIR DESIGN SPECIFICATION FOR A SMART WORLD CLASS TOWER BLOCK/SKYSCRAPPER.
Alright. Fair enough.

Onitsha ICC with a 5000 sitted banquet Hall and about 20 smaller banquet halls will be more viable than the Awka Icc. Onitsha Icc HUB will have
(1) Two 5 star Hotels almost ready 1 govt owned & 1 private owned.
(2) With The Onitsha Shopping Mall already functioning.
There are many functions and events in Onitsha but It lack a World class facilities for such events.
This I believe will help to the regeneration of the great city of Onitsha.

What do u mean ‘will be more viable that the Awka ICC?’

The Awka ICC is for every Anambra person to use. Why are u making it sound like Onitsha is not in Anambra. Anyway I don’t blame u for requesting for Onitsha ICC when Awka pple have decided to handover the town(Awka] to cultists of different ages making the town unsafe.
Onitsha these days looks more organized and better in sight than Awka. Onitsha is gradually having the potential of being another Lagos. Every thing there seems 70% well structured.
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Landmack: 7:07pm On Mar 13, 2022
I think d only thing still holding Onitsha from attaining a mega city status are the touts roaming the streets, some missing key infrastructure and lastly having landlords with those high rise dirty buildings have them repainted...some buildings be looking like a pigsty

Although I'm staunchly a peter obi supporter, the total failure to deliver any of his legacy projects except the Agulu Lake hotel and Onitsha mall completed by Obiano underscores his very poor planning and delivery abilities as a manager.

Compared to Obiano that supervised and COMPLETED his legacy projects without abandoning any to the next administration. Of course, Soludo would not complain if Obiano abandoned his legacy projects for the Soludo administration. But Obiano went ahead and completed his legacy projects so that Soludo can focus on his own projects.

Just imagine how highly Peter Obi would have been rated in projects delivery if he delivered any of his legacy projects of Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka malls as well as Agulu and Onitsha hotels instead of abandoning them to become the burden of the next government.

EXACTLY!
It is better to have 2 or 3 achievable legacy projects and COMPLETE them. Than to start the Anambra light rail project or other massive capital intensive legacy projects at the twilight of one's administration and then abandon it to become the burden of the next administration. It is very unfair to do that.

I prayed so hard that Obiano should complete his legacy projects before leaving office. So that the fate of the 80% completed Enugu ICC that has been abandoned for more than 16 years now would befall Anambra state.

I love when he said Enugu is small, Asaba is small... cheesy cheesy Obiano really put massive work on Anambra Airport which will be appreciated many years from now, I dare say only a few individuals would have had the courage to embark on such projects as Anambra Governor considering Anambra revenue, and yet end up surpassing many FG and state Govt Airports. Thankfully the airport has been named after him for achieving such a feat

Peter Obi regaled himself with a "feat" of leaving behind 75 billion for Obiano.. Many ignorant people were praising and worshiping him for that and were already waiting to see how much Obiano would say he left for his successor not knowing Obiano as a smart man had something up his sleeves.
It was after completing the airport and ICC that most people realized the foolishness of claiming to save 75 billion while leaving behind so many abandoned projects, now the so called 75 billion legacy has died a natural death, no one mentions it anymore, even Obi, no wonder Obiano didn't waste time contesting the amount.
I know Obi must be full of regrets right now of not having any legacy project to his name after 8 years as Gov.

I SERIOUSLY BELIEVE THAT ANAMBRA WOULD DEVELOP ON THE MODEL THAT INCOMING GOVERNORS DO NOT BUG THEMSELVES DOWN BY COMPLETEING PROJECT THEIR PREDECESSOR DID NOT START.

THIS BELIEF IS REINFORCED, ESPECIALLY IF THEIR PREDECESSOR HAVE SPENT 8 YEARS IN GOVERNMENT, WHICH IS TWO TERMS IN OFFICE.

IF THEY ONLY HAD ONE TERM IN OFFICE OF 4 YEARS, THEN THE SUCCESSOR CAN COMPLETE OR START PROJECT, THEY LEFT BEHIND.

ANY PROJECT LEFT BEHIND BY SOMEBODY THAT HAVE SPENT 8 YEARS IN OFFICE AND HE DID NOT START OR DEVELOP TO A REASONABLE STAGE SHOULD BE ZONED TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR, ESPECIALLY.

THIS WILL SUSTAIN THE MOMENTUM FOR CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT.
You are correct here surprisingly. If Anambta Airport could be completed in less than 2 years then no reason why any serious Govt should abandon any project, its the prerogative of the Gov to decide whether to complete the projects or sell it off to private sector.. The legacy project Soludo has to do in Anambra right now is dualizing Anambra roads

Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by IGBOSON1: 1:44am On Mar 14, 2022
The wooden beams in the last pic don't look durable enough....you can see this just by looking at them. The Governor should invite the contractors to fix the problems ASAP, as there should be some kind of waranty on jobs done. And if the materials used are substandard, then they should be made to replace them...even if it means temporarily closing down the airport.

Are there reports of other buildings in the state affected by this storm? If it's just the airport that's affected, then it means the job wasn't done properly and substandard materials were used in certain aspects of the construction...like the cladding of the control tower, roofing sheets and wood used for the ceilings.

Mr face your state for once. The whole energy you spent on anambra issues try and use it to discuss how to get good drinking water in Enugu state.

All of you will just turn to advisers in another man's while yours are decaying to bottomless pit.
