They are simply telling all their creditors they have more than enough money to service their debts. But US has frozen the money, so dont disturb us. Tell the US to unfreeze it

Russia is right on this one IMO. It's an artificial default.. lol

BTW, Ukraine has accepted to be a neutral state so why prolong the war again?

They're yet to agree to let Donnesk and Lugansk be on their own.

Justifying? Because I explained what they used the printed $3 trillion for? For the record more than 80% of the USD is outside the United States.

I know where you are headed already but you are grossly mistaken. Printing more money isn't the problem. The question, is what would the monies be used for? The US printed to invest bonds and make businesses and business owners borrow more. Nigeria, on the other hand, printed to pay state governments and worse, WE SPENT N58.6b to print a meagre N2b! You don't print notes to circulate just because the economy is bad.

ALL of you PUTIN BOYS have one thing in common and it is the fact that you don't understand what you argue or fight over but still fight anyways. Even if Putin prints Russian Rubles that can fill the whole of Russia, he can't pay with them because Russia's bond was denominated in Dollars. Attempting to pay in Ruble is automatic default. You're supposed to know this but no, you embody the classic PUTIN BOYS.

All the best.
who is a Putin Boy,, i am pointing it out to you that what ever reason you think you have to justify printing more Dollars, Any other county can as well do it. Nigeria printed for a reason, and if need be Russia will print, weather you feel its right or wrong its nobody's concern. I am just against hypocrisy in whatever form. you think its only Russia that is being affected by the impact of the sanctions.

if they cant pay the bonds in Rubbles, they will wait till the sanction is over.. Abi tell me what will they do ?

You just need to look for your economics teacher and hunt him/her down.

This frozen asset is as a result of a sanction. I'm sure you know what that means? Just as a sovereign government can stroll into another and start wreaking havoc is the same way another can sit on your resources/treasury in their land.

Re-read what you've written, take your time, go online and read more materials on nations, sanctions, debts and assets. Then come back for a sound argument and not this that looks like one cooked up fantasy in game house.
I hope this is not part of the explanations you were bragging about? When America strolled into Grenada on october 25, 1983 and killed civilians, bombed hospitals because they believed the regime was supported by Russia and Russia could use Grenada to invade america, who sanctioned them? The united nations voted against the illegal invasion by 109 to 8 yet civilians were bombed and regime changed. Who penalised them? Maybe you don't know... most of those debts are meant for the Americans and the Europeans and perhaps Chinese. So let them tell their govt to pay them from Russian money otherwise they should collect rubbles

Some of the bondholders are USA institutions; they would have factored the interest payment into their budget and cashflow analysis for the year. Inability to collect this funds will have significant impact on this intuitions and they might have to seek for alternative expensive funds. They might put pressure on the USA government if they are unable to meet other obligations because of this.

They will lose a lot of money paying through ruble. Imagine getting a debt at 400/$ and you're willing to pay it at 600/$

That's wassup with rubble now.
That is nobody's concern. They have offered to pay in Rubble, weather it favors them or not is left to both the Russian Government and its creditors. Nigeria is also paying loans it got when Naira was at 200 per dollar and naira is currently hovering around 400+ official rate

Best explanation so far

2016easy2017:

Let me explain or simplify.

Russia made proposed payment for debt funds long before the war( like issuing a postdated cheque) but it was unknown to bond share owners. Russia knew that was gonna happen. So, it got the bond liabilities on the bond share holder countries and individuals of which Westerners Carr the most. So what the US and the west sanctioned is actually the dividends belonging to the bond share holders. Though some portion belongs to Russia but it's negligible

If Russia is unable to pay in Dollars, they will default without a doubt and that means their assets whether in Russia or outside of Russia will be seized on the spot and become the temporal assets of the lenders/investors.

You still don't understand why Russia is running helter skelter over this and it's strange that you don't understand what a sovereign default is capable of unleashing on any nation.

This is a thread you can’t find those clown chasers and tribal bigots .
Thread for the brainy not for selfie addicts .

It’s a power game .
The lender does not need to know why you can’t service your debt . All he cares is for you to pay your debt at the right time .
It’s left for you to source it and repay your debt as at when due .
In this case , Russia wants to play smart . The lenders has no business with the sanctions or US . They need their money from the borrower ( Russia ) .
Whatsoever way , Russia get fund to pay them isn’t their concern .

Asking US and the West to unfreeze their external reserve of $300b so they can honor the bond of $177m they have drawn from it , knowing their external reserve is banned from their use isn’t smart but stupidity.

Bank freezes your account on the order of EFCC , now you gave out a Cheque to your creditor with same account , telling him or her to meet EFCC so they can allow him/her access the fund in your account .. wtf .

And to those shouting US have debt more than Russia ..lol .
As I am , I owe my caretaker #20,000 , but GTB are owing Innoson about $2.2b , doesn’t it mean I’m richer than GTCo or GTB ?

You have been claiming Russia can easily print Ruble and pay their creditors easily but that is impossible. They signed a deal and Russia decided it would pay in USD in the contract. This means anything short of the Dollar is default. It is ignorance to think Russia can print Russian Rubles (monies) and take them in million bags to their creditors. The bond is denominated in Dollars. They must pay back in Dollars, nothing more, nothing less.

How? This guy is just spewing rubbish. All the assets are seized already... even the one belonging to oligarchs... private citizens. What assest do you now want to seize again.? Russia's external reserve is hidden away in the United States. The United States sanctioned Russia and froze its external reserve, meaning Russia's $300 billion is not theirs at the moment. In theory, Russia has $300 billion external reserve in the United States. Technically, Russia is semi broke.

The United States does not need to be the IMF or World Bank to sanction a war mongering country.

Admitted, you have money in the bank. But can't access it due to the ban placed on ur account let's say by EFCC.
However, the person you're owing wants his money now.

So you tell him to go collect from the bank?
Or you look for where to borrow and pay him

If you are half as intelligent as I assumed, you will know that all the countries you mentioned above are under USA sanction. They destroy countries for personal interest. You are so naive so you won't know that Venezuela was once the second richest country in the world till the almighty USA sanctioned it. I've been to more than 70 countries in the world.... does that mean I can't do without all of them.. I've been to china more than I've been to USA and who told you I live in USA? Like I said, you are not even as intelligent as I assumed. If killing people to take over Garrage is what makes NURTW to be more fortunate, I refused to be as fortunate as they are. I don't need that kind of money. It shows your mentality. Just get the money anyhow.... wether america is killing people in the middle east or NURTW is killing to take over Garrage .... they are fortunate.
