A wealthy lady fell in love and got married to a man that wasn't rich,after marriage they both had joint accounts and managed her assets together...after 8 years without a child in marriage they both decided to adopt a child...they adopted a baby girl of 3 months,7 years later the woman got sick and died.
The family of the lady later came after the burial and demanded that the husband vacate the house and hand down the properties and all assets to them cos they weren't his at first...and besides that the child isn't her blood because she was adopted...please who owns the properties based on your view?the husband and adopted daughter or her family members....

Did sisi ICA just subtly advise a er backdated/retrospective will?

One of her documents must surely contain name of her next of kin

Her asset would be splited between her spouse , adopted kid and Next of kin

I don’t care how they intend to get it done.

Life with it's different wahala.i think the daughter is entitled to the property,.if she was adopted legally,with papers.the court will side with her.

No one knew the percentage of money each contributed

They can share the money into four places if they sell the property

The late wife will take half, the husband and adopted child will share the remaining half

Then the wife family will take their daughter share and the adopted daughter share while the man takes the remaining quarter share

The wife family should accept that girl child as their daughter's child because they were aware of her adoption

But if the property was on the woman's name

And the man has never beaten his wife, they can sell it and give him a percentage

If the man has been wicked to their daughter and her name is in the land documents

They man has nothing to get
