You may have to build your analysis of critical issues on not less than 10 authorities to come to a reasonable and logical conclusion that may bring you close to getting an A. Although I didn't break any records, I finished with a first class.

I also didn't plan to finish with a first class.

I became conscious of my grades in my third year. In fact, I only began to learn how to calculate CGPA during the holidays between 200 level and 300 level. That was when I realize that I was heading for a first class finish.

Only for me to have a carryover in 2nd semester, 300 level.

But still, I ended up with a first class.

God be praised!!!

First Class students shouldn't hunt for jobs. They should either have an automatic federal job or be exposed to grants to proceed with their education. But we are in a clime where a person with forged certificates control PhD holders, how would they value brains?

4.5 that was I managing with care since 200 level, it got to 500 level and the department cut it to 4.44.

First class was too much in my set and I was hovering in the borderline between 4.47 to 4.5, so I fell victim.

I wrote a letter to HOD, Dean, and I even went with the SUG president to go and beg.

It fell on deaf ears.

Na so I carry my 4.44 comot.
It still pains me to this day.

‘Mathematics 2+2=4 Yes. It is independently verifiable and can be reproduced
Sociology on the other hand is more subjective (research,analysis and it’s interpretation).

Nigeria as a country should be tired of individuals breaking records and then going into an oblivion. We need to transition this academic feat into something practical, innovations that the citizens can feel, and the country at large. I am not taking anything away from this beautiful lady but our country needs genuine problem solvers, especially as we have myriad of challenges confronting the nation right now.

Just like money having no worth when not spent, first class becomes meaningless if not put into use to solve societal problems.
