I'm not keen on interest rates as I'm not permitted to earn interest.

Moneybox ohhh
Haagreaves ohhh
All will give you interest.

If you are truly not permitted to earn interest, and you really wish to live by that, here is a siMple solution:
Go to Poundland, buy a piggybank (it costs £1).
Then be saving your money in there. Keep the piggybank safely under your bed.
No interest will accrue.

Thanks from r your advice, you do well.

However, in this case I need the 25% bonus not the interest, and piggy vesy won't give me that!

Well Goodluck to everyone. Location matters though - London deposit of 600k properties at 10% is 60K while Manchester deposit at 150K property at 10% is 15K.

Provided it is the Cash LISA you opened you can stay with Hargreaves and you will still get your bonus....however there is still option to move your service provider.
I think Moneybox stopped account transfers already for this tax year. Once the new tax year starts, you should be able to transfer your account.

Hi,

Anyone knows about embryology in Uk. It’s prospect in terms of sponsorship.

I’m looking at taking a Reproduction and Development course MSc. in Uk towards a career in Embryology. Do you think I’m threading the right part and how good is this in terms of job and remaining in Uk.

A friend of mine told me her Landlord wanted to sell the 3 bed flat where they were renting.
It was put up for sale.
My friend ( a tier 4 student) and her husband bought the flat on mortgage.
The asking price was £65,000.
The landlord yanked off 5,000
And sold it to them at £60,000

For those who want to gain skills in Construction, HGV and IT. 16 weeks bootcamp and they're supposed to be free - I say supposed because I haven't delved into the nitty gritty of each one.

That's not a proper comparison between prices in London and Manchester.
600k in London will get you a 3 bed detached.
A comparable property in Manchester would be about 400 - 450k.

Goes without saying.
Of course there are places in this country where one can buy property at good prices.
The question as always remains - are those places where one would want to live and work.
Does one want to buy a massive 4 bed in Birnin Kebbi GRA while you're still in your working years or do you want to live in Port Harcourt, Abuja or the dreaded Lagos or any city that will offer better employment/integration opportunities. There's always a trade off to be made.

Covid has pushed remote working somewhat, which is the only good thing about the pandemic.

Maybe someone in Luton can advise further but if you do decided to stay at Bedford then let me know so I can drop pointers.

Cheers

Lovely place full of lovely villages, but it depends on which part. Central Bedfordshire is nicer lots of lovely country side. Public service is crap so you will need a car.

It means using money on such a credit card is expensive borrowing ........

But on the up side, they are credit building cards, they help build your credit report.......

Don't spend, what you cannot payback...... You don't have to pay all back, if spending is minimal and under control........

Look at it this way, high street banks/certain lenders would offer you the same credit card at 0.00% Apr ......... cheesy

37.9 vs 0.00...... wink
Is 28.9% APR any good? Because that’s what Barclays is offering me. Thanks

Regardless, both required deposit amount are different and at the end, they both own property in UK when giving testimony online. For all you know - the 'UK' in reference could be north, south, west or east.

Also, you are limited as to where you would get a '600K' 3 bed detached in London, mostly undesirable part. At the end of the day, we all have different preferences. Its still all a 'mortgage' just that there is now a little shift from owing the landlord to owing the bank. I.e bank being the new landlord and possibility of equity pull out in the long run.

(1) Your spouse is in the UK on a dependant visa? So who is the person that she/he applied through?

(2) Are you guys married?

(3) How long does your spouse have on their visa.

Just make sure you pay off your balance each month so you never actually end up paying any interest, at any rate.
Set up a direct debit to pay off full balance each month, and then watch how you use the card so you never run up charges exceeding the money already in or absolutely certain to enter your account.

That's the key to using credit cards with high-ish APRs.

Thanks a lot for your response. I’ll definitely do that. I saw on a YouTube video that the ideal recommendation to build a good credit score is to spend between 10% - 30% on your credit card. Is this a good enough recommendation? Thanks

I personally don't worry too much about the APR since I make sure to pay off all my balance before the due date. I have never paid a pence in interest to any credit card company in the UK.
