Terrorists prevent aircraft’s take-off, kill one at Kaduna airport

Suspected terrorists invaded the Kaduna International Airport located in Igabi Local Government Area the Kaduna State on Saturday.

The attackers, numbering over 200 were said to have taken over the airport.

The development caused panic at the airport as the suspected terrorists reportedly killed one security official of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency.

The attack, it was gathered forced the authority to temporarily shut down activities while the military battled the suspected terrorists.

A source who confided in our correspondent said the terrorists insisted on shutting down the airport.

Following the presence of the terrorists on the runway area of the airport, workers attached to the airport were said to have left their duty posts.

It was also gathered that an aircraft scheduled to take off for Lagos at 12:30pm could not fly as a result of the presence of the terrorists at the runway of the airport.

Our correspondent gathered that most of the workers at the airport had fled as more military personnel have been deployed to the airport.

The source said, “They started attacking the Airport around midnight. The soldiers were able to repel them that midnight and we thought that was all. In fact, our workers resumed work this morning as usual till around 12:00 pm.

“Then, shortly after that, some NAMA workers went to check some of their equipment, then these bandits appeared and started shooting.

“The NAMA engineers scampered for safety, they could not even go and enter the vehicle that took them to the site. It was in the process that their security man was shot in the head.

“The security man was rushed to the hospital and he was confirmed dead.

“As I am talking to you now, the soldiers are still battling those bandits, and they are proving difficult to be repelled. Now, they had shut down the airport.”

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, neither the state nor the police had confirmed the attack.

The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige, however, promised to get back to our correspondent.

With the way things are going it would only be a matter of time before we wake up some day with a news that bandits have now taken over the government house and have impose a iswap, bokoharam, sharia regime on everybody, but God forbid.

Government should continue ineffective combating. No way out of this than to train and arm worthy members of communities affected by the rampaging bandits as militias

What is the government afraid of,is it not better now to empower the citizens to defend themselves? New non state actors would become operational if citizens finally procure unlicensed arms to stop these bandits

Apc rode to power on the premise that Jonathan was clueless in fighting Boko Haram terrorists.

Today we deal with the following security challenges under Apc government:

1. Boko Haram terrorists operating in the north east
2. ISWAP operaring in the north east
3. Fulani herdsmen operating in the north central and some parts of southwest
4. Bandits opering in the northwest
5. ESN/Unknown gunmen operating in the south east.

All of these operate freely without the federal goverment profering any feasible solution.

If by chance u end up voting for Apc in the next election, just know u are no better than a goat( ewure, akuya or ewu) that doesn't learn from experience.

You guys are not yet ready to help yourselves.

You're still calling them bandits instead if calling them their real names TERRORISTS.

At first the elites ignored cos they felt they only attacked the poor using the roads.

Now no one uses the roads anymore.

They started attacking trains as people ignored the roads.

The "big men" started using flight thinking they will never reach there.

Well, the proverbial chicken has come home to roost.

I remember when Amaechi was attacked and his CSO was killed. They used politics and said he died in the shower instead of saying they were ambushed on their way from the airport.

Now breeze don blow, fowl nyarsh don open.

Good morning Kaduna people

Bandits or terrorists?

Yet there are different security details at the airport and nothing was done.

Nigerian forces are not proactive neither are they reactive nor active.

They show their power on armless citizens.

El Rufai, we await your comment on this.
