A Yoruba man once came to the South South in search of greener pastures the man as of then came to start a phone repair in Calabar and he didn't have a shop nor a house to pass the night and I met him under a tree close to a phone accessories store where I went to work my phone,he approached me and helped me fixed my phone then he narrated his story and I felt pity, took him home, introduce him to my parents and then we lived together in my room. We were more than friends but brothers cos I'm the only son in midst of four girls, we drink, eat and do girls shit together, we had misunderstanding and make up ASAP. I provided him with a shop to continue his phone repairs FOC and he has never for once pay a rent on the shop, I hustle for admission for him in the university of Calabar and studied Edu Economic.
While he was in the university I protected him from joining cultism even do there was a pressure on me to bring him for initiation I keep telling them that it was a mistake that I found my self here and I will never advise or bring anyone to this nonsense and I'm done with cultism after my graduation.
He was once beaten and wounded seriously by a soldier in the barracks for coming back late cos we were living inside the barracks and my dad was a senior military personnel and the soldier was court Marshall and demoted.
Our friendship started having a question mark when he started associating him self with some Yoruba guys who were lousy, boastful and filled with pride and all those characters irritates me, they were all cultist different from my frag, I was protecting my friend in all cost not to associate him self with cultist of any frag because of the danger it will cost me or him but he started exhibiting some characters strange to me and his fellow Yoruba brothers lured him to initiation one night but God saved him, they had an accident that night, no body sustained any ingury but my friend was on coma, one of them called my phone that night around 1:15am and informed me about the accident and my friends condition, at first I thought it was a trap and put my frag HIT squad on alert, took three soldiers with me and Five police personal.
Reaching the scene I saw my friend laying down with his eyes and mouth wide open and he couldn't talk, we rushed him to the hospital that night. I was with him for 3days while the doctors were trying to revive him because he became the hospital MS patient, the MS is our family friend and know this my friend in person, after 3days I called his girlfriend to come and spend few times with him while I rush home to change up, the girlfriend came and I left 20k with her should in case of any emergency payment, I didn't spent up to 30minute at home when I came back to the hospital I didn't find his girlfriend and her phone was switched off, she ran till today.
Calls of threat started coming my phone from my friend family members that if I've succeeded in poisoning their son I should bring the corpse to Lagos that somebody called Akin called and told them that their son is at the point of death that the person he's living with poisoned him out of jealousy, akin is the person who took him for initiation.
After 12days of coma in the hospital he was transferred to LUTH, I went to the airport that same hour booked for two. At around 5pm we came to the airport, the pilot rejected him saying he's a dead corpse and he can't carry him, everybody pleaded with the pilot but he refused not until other passengers onboard came out of the plane and ask the pilot to fly an empty plane back to Lagos before he accepted but I did a big mistake, I didn't accompanied my friend to Lagos cos of his family threat and the fact that I don't understand Yoruba language, his course mate who is a Yoruba accompanied him.
I thank God Almighty the great physician that my friend my brother is healthy and strong and married with kids, I again thank God that my name was the first name he mentioned when he recovered and I was the only person he asked to see before any of his family members, I was so happy when I heard that he has recovered and he wants me to come see him and with joy in my heart I went immediately, when we saw each other we hug and cried so happily in so much that the whole hospital was filled with tears plus his family members and I will never forget the name he called me that day MY TWINS BROTHER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER.
I'm sharing this story because of the so much hate thread I've been seeing on NL between the Igbo and Yoruba, this administration of Buhari has input so much bitterness in the mind of many Nigerians which is not good for the future. I am an Igbo man that stand for peace, love, prosperity to anybody and for anybody irrespective of tribe or religion.
Please permit my typing or any errors found

You are good man. You come from a loving family that did not raise you to hate other people for unfounded reasons
I am not a buhari fan, but he did not start the hatred. The hatred finally became established after 1951 election, when some candidates from NCNC and other political parties Cross carpeted to AG. It took Azikiwe,in his book (My Odyssey) published in 1970 to set the record straight.
Check google before forming opinion, they won't. What led to cross carpeting, why was the first premier of eastern region (Eyo Ita)removed by Azikiwe, what led to the first coup and civil war?

Why hating a tribe because they refused your script

During the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, many Igbo people fled other parts of the country for the East because they were being killed and massacred wantonly and the government was doing nothing about it.

Many abandoned their homes, properties and businesses for safety. Of them, was a young Igbo architect who had a young Yoruba banker as a neighbour in Apapa, Lagos. He also abandoned his home and with his family fled for the East.

However, the young Yoruba banker, while the war lasted, rented out his neighbour's house and kept every kobo for him while he was in the East. After the war, the Igbo architect returned to Lagos and the Yoruba banker handed over the entire proceeds of the rent and also the house to the Igbo architect.

Some few years later, the Igbo architect became the Vice President of Nigeria and the Yoruba banker established a commercial bank, the first by a private citizen in the country's history.

However, he could not get a license to begin banking operations. Many people were against him because it was unheard of at the time.

At this time, the banker remembered his neighbour who was now the Vice President and tracked him to the Christ Church Cathedral, Marina, Lagos on a particular Sunday. He had tried to get appointment to see him in his office but without success.

He and his wife then decided to go lay ambush for him in Church but the security men did not allow them. They then decided to sit by the pew close to the aisle to beat the security in the hope that the Vice President would see them while he walked to the front row. Yet, he still didn't see them.

After the church program they positioned that he will see them on his way out. However, the people following him out and security blocked his view. That was when the banker's wife decided to take a risk and like the woman with the issue of blood, she pulled the Vice President's cloth to get his attention who then turned and saw his old friend.

The young banker then narrated his plight and told the Vice President how he had tried to see him and what he needed to see him for. He told him about his application for a bank licence.

“Don’t worry yourself. Just come tomorrow at the Federal Executive Council meeting which I would preside because President Shehu Shagari would not be there,'' the Vice President assured him.

By 3.00pm the next day, the Finance Minister called the banker on phone that his licence was ready. The rest they say is history.

That young banker was Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun while the architect in this narrative was one of Africa’s Elder statesmen and former Vice President of the Republic of Nigeria, late Dr. Alex Ekwueme. The bank is what is now First City Monument Bank.

Quoted Story below Proves Southern Nigeria's Glorious Destiny. Igbo and Yoruba Unification is the only Wise Unstoppable Power that shall flush out blood-thirsty Satanic Vampires called Fulanis from our beloved Father Land. But some will only twist Narrative to popularize Negative Stories that Create Enemity between innocent Decendants, this due to their senseless self-destructive myopic Selfish Pride blocking their Medula until their future Generations is irreversibly Enslaved by the Demonic Fulanis permanently.

I have heard this story about two decades ago.

Though off the point, the version I heard says the house is at SURULERE, this version says the house is at Apapa.

I have a reason why I am so much concerned about locations. I did analysis about situations in Nigeria in the 50s, 60s till date. In year 2002 Senator Arthur Nzeribe during an interview said there are more opportunities to be rich now than it was in their days, he said people that cannot see OPPORTUNITIES will always complain. He said this when the person interviewing him said he made use of lack of exposure of the populace to make it big early in life. He disagreed. He said there are many young people who passed through him that are now with him at the Senate and very rich.

That time I sat down to calculate Alex Ekwueme's age during the civil war. He had a house at Lagos, Okoh and may be at Enugu. Which means, he built those houses in his late 20s or very early 30s.

Nairaland, let us remove 419, yahoo and yahoo plus, is it true there are more opportunities now than it was in the days of Ekwueme?

My dad was the last born he was like 6years when the war started he had 2 direct older sisters and 5 brothers, naturally that meant they were all above 15when the war started, both my grandfather and his entire 5 brothers none did he ever see again after the war, even house destroyed, family was reduced to the barest form of poverty.

Igbos were fighting wars on 2 fronts, on one side as an Igbo youth especially of age if u refuse to join the war u were at risk, on the other side as an Igbo youth of age too if the Nigerian army saw u, u were also at risk whether u support Biafra or not.

Even if igbos can’t get the presidency, i as an Igbo person want them to give it to anybody from asaba, delta state. Every time I read what they went through just because of us it really pains my heart. That almost all their men and boys was lined up and massacred just like that, asaba people even in this life to the next, we owe u guys a debt that can never be repaid.
Very few people know our story. Thank you man.
