Hi Nairalanders,

Asking for a friend

I'm a total novice in the agricultural supply chain/value chain.
I've been a Computer Technician for quite awhile, but I do feel like I'm wasting away in this path of life that I'm towing.
Currently, I'm seeking a total career transition into the agricultural supply / value chain.

I do intend to venture into the trading of Oil Palm and Vegetable Oil, and their ancilliaries, but I do not have any inkling of how the business or market is like.
Please sirs and ma'ams I really need your help, advice, mentorship, opportunities for apprenticeship or co-working, or anything that could help in putting me on my feet and helping me in gaining stability, as touching the Edible Oil Business.

Please mods kindly help me get a wider audience please.

Thanks everyone.

The problem with palm oil trading is that there is no competitive edge. Palm oil is everywhere in the market and most Nigerians don't care about the source of the palm oil and your customer can buy from anywhere.
Its similar as garri business.

Hmmn

Thanks so much sir.

What's your take on adding value by, selling branded oil, or looking for other users of oilpalm like the cosmetics, lubricant, industrial markets -though there's no cash for high volume trading.
Do you think there'd be a chance by adding value or by differentiation.

Do your market survey and feasibility study. If it is viable, you can invest in it.
