S.E already has 6-7 competent midfielders.

Nwakwali
Onyeka
Iwobi
Ndidi
Tijani
Bonke
Onyedika
Alhassan Yusuf

Only Ndidi, Aribo and to an extent Iwobi are competent enough on an international level the rest are just there

I think it is about time we tried other goalkeepers like Adebayo and Okonkwo
There's also a Noah Atubolu at Freiburg, he's also highly rated.

We should hold the Nigerian media responsible for the Eagles not qualifying for Qatar. They pumped up Eguavoen and pressured the NFF to hand him the keys. I said clearly that Eguavoen was no material and he won't get beyond the second round of the Afcon. Our greatest undoing was that performance against Egypt. If we had hoofed and puffed against Egypt and lost to Tunisia at the second round, Eguavoen would have been thrown out.

Bringing Amunike sadly, didn't improve the team instead we regressed. The football at the Afcon was better than the playoffs since Amunike joined. I knew we were in trouble when Bonke started the first leg having not been named in the original list and stand-by. It shows there was no structure.

I saw a post on cybereagles which said the players were bored and sleepy during Amunike's long lectures and team talk prior to the game in Abuja. Redflags everywhere.

My preference for a manager will be Juan Antonio Pizzi. He should have been hired since yesterday.

And for those crucifying iwobi at any given opportunity hope una see how his absence was felt in the games against Ghana?

I bet you guys that if iwobi played that game he would hv created chances that would hv atleast resulted to a goal
iwobi would have been nowhere to be found on the pitch in both legs

One thing that surprises me with Nigerians is that they will support a particular person as most of them insisted on Eguavon as coach even after afcon 2021. If you give reasons why it shouldn't be their popular choice they will call you names and insult you. Afterwards the same Nigerians will be the ones condemning the same person they supported when the person fails. We see this in football (i.e coach), politics( presidential candidate), etc the most vocal yet sentimental people on earth. The people really deserve the leaders they get They seem to think emotionally and not logically

Even a novice would have known after that afcon 2021 that eguavon was not right. When I emphasized this, someone scolded me and was making reference to the group stage victories of afcon and I could just wonder how shallow one could be in thinking. Tactically eguavon is terrible. Nigeria doesn't want to spend money and bring seasoned coaches. Nff should be overhauled. It is a failing system at the moment. Pinnick should be sent out. Even cameroun appointed people who have earned the right to be at the helm of their football development..eto and rigobert song. Who is Pinnick?

Okocha ------ Mikel ---------

All the midfielders touted to follow in that path upon Mikel's retirement are levels below the standard.

We need to take our cadet teams seriously, from the U-13s to U-20s.Our cadet teams have been badly managed during the tenure of the present NFF board..... they prefer the shortcut of begging Anglo-Nigerian players to switch.

Our cadet teams would produce the heir to Mikel....it will be extremely hard convincing a foreign born player with that level of talent to play for us. I hope the NFF have learned their lesson.

Eguavoen's coaching has shown that it is what you do with what you have that matters.

competent midfielders in the hands of a coach with poor tactics will make them look like incompetent midfielders...

those midfielders are competent enough to play in Euro:pean leagues so that means they are competent enough for the Super Eagles.

I think anayo iwuala may be a natural winger that actually creates chances for his strikers and so is actually more tactically sound than some of our wing forwards.
But people in this forum will say he is not playing in Europe but football is about tactics

Balogun, Aribo and Bassey all start in today's Old firm derby

It's part 3 of the Old firm Derby in 21/22 and it's the first time all 3 Naija boys start vs Celtic this season.

Part 1 - Only Aribo started.

Part 2 - Only Aribo and Bassey started. Balogun came in as a half time sub.

Game kicks off in 24mins.

for now the team shouldnt go to a local nigerian coach, they have shown they dont have the balls like keshi used to.. A quality foreign coach who will show no favour to any player will be nice.
Thank you. Beyond that, we cannot employ coaches just because they are Nigerian. They need to have the skillset too. We are not like England or Germany that has many qualified native coaches.

The cadet players too prefer shortcuts, majority of them sign ridiculous contracts in Europe which proves to be a gamble that might work or might not work out in their favor

Only Osimhen, Iheanacho, Awoniyi and a couple have turned our decent from the cadet teams recently.

Alampasu, Nwakali Snr and many more have been off radar for a long time despite showing promise earlier.

Making a transition from youth football to senior team is usually difficult and most times some of them give up trying altogether and move on with whatever they get in their professional careers.

Savior Godwin bagged a goal for Casa Pia in their 2-0 win away at Academica Coimbra today.

9 goals, 2 assists in 24 league games (21 starts) in the Portuguese Segunda Liga.

He and Casa Pia sit 2nd on the table (automatic promotion slot), 5 pts above 3rd place with 6 games to go.

Footballers like ekong, balogun and ndidi put up good display in national colours, really a pity they won't be going to the world cup. I admired the confidence with which ekong stood up for the penalty kick. I think oshimem is overhyped and not at the level of Mahrez, abubakar, sadio mane , aubameyang etc. He was feeling like a big boy on the pitch in the final play off against Ghana, always animated or excited, tried to score in flashy styles to show oshimem is back, instead of keeping a level head when taking his chances. He missed several chances in which he should have tried to be less acrobatic and just target the net with precision. The fact is that Nigeria no longer have the best talents in African football

Apart from few monikers here who are blinded with sentiments and double standards nobody will dare put osimhen at the same level with mane auba mahrez

And I disagree with you saying he was feeling like a big boy ,Victor is not such type of player ,he is a hard worker

Because naija didn’t go to the World Cup then automatically naija doesn’t have the best talents in African football anymore ,calm down with your beer parlour analysis

nigeria has a lot of big and rich men who will readily assist to pay a top quality coach. 150,000-200,000 dollars type of coaches arent beyond nigeria... Its even long over due..
