Well the lady with 16k followers and Angelique kidjo won not because their music was better, they won because their music has a cultural representation than that of Wizkid which is the criteria for winning that category, at least that was what Grammy said. Learn! And Grammy shouldn’t have nominated Wizkid projects in that same category since that was the criteria and they knew before hand Wizkid projects doesn’t have a cultural representation. Essence should have being nominated in record of the year at least if not song of the year, cos of the dominance of the song in the US, the song was certified 2 times platinum lol, no African artiste be it Angelique kiddo or whatever songs since they started singing amassed that kind of success, even Yankee artiste know how difficult it is for their songs to go gold not to talk of platinum two times. And besides all Fela’s projects and musics had a cultural representation down to his kids (Femi and seun) musics and yet they have failed to win over the years. Wizkid only amassed all he is and whatever 20 things you said he achieved, not by merit or talent but because of the 'graces/luck' obtainable in this internet age. If Wizkid existed in the era of Fela, nobody would have known he even exists? At least Fela got his legend status and popularity by merit and by noble reasons, in those days when there was no internet to trend or go viral. You don't even compare a Legend like Fela from way back with all these Twitter era clowns.

Then music wise, you also got it wrong. Music in those days was tougher. Apart from singing, Fela himself is an instrumentalist who has knowledge of basics in music. These guys do live performance, after several rehearsals. They do things just like real professional arts performance, their real voice, the kind of costumes they wear etc. Real professional performances. Lagbaja also exhibited all those in his days. These guys showcase the real genre of African music in it's raw originality. Not like talentless, easy-ride modern wannabes.

These modern clowns who don't know anything about music much more playing a musical instrument, no good voice, they only ride on good studio beats, studio editing and autotune. They can't sing live, they do lip syncing. They don't showcase that performance arts. Their music can't be regarded as arts nor does it really showcase African music.
