ArewaNorth:Look at this drunkard, they have worked for last month, they shld be paid. Your useless no work no pay rule can start from April. By the way, look at the way a whole Minister of Labour is talking, like a common street thug. If Nigerians will allow such people to continue to rule or be appointed, then, we will continue remain in deplorable state... #ThugMinister #DrunkardMinister #NgigeMustGo 1 Like 1 Share |

Ignoramus! Keep kwayet there! ASUU entered agreement with Nigerian govt, not Buhari. Matter of fact, Buhari was in Nigeria and fully aware of ASUU vs FG gbege, and even pressed in support of ASUU. BTW ASUU is telling govt to fulfill the agreement entered before 2020 strike was suspended, and you are still talking about 2009. bluefilm: |

McLizbae: I don't blame you at all. I blame those two ignoramuses that failed to give you proper home training in the first place. That's why you feel so comfortable to come online and abuse people anyhow. Nonsense. |

Ignorance is not an abuse, it's a changable identity. You stop being ignorant when you start learning. You can't rebuff my points in your response. Hence, you silently agreed you are ignorant about this particular issue. Instead of you to commend me, you refered to the people that trained me, and made it possible for me to be training you here today. Nawa for you o! bluefilm: |

LeoDeKing: I absolutely agree with you. The unions have weaponized industrial action and use it to hurt the nation for nothing more than their material interests. In all the years they've been paid, the quality of their work has been rapidly declining, churning out uncooked grads all over the place. Lecturers are nothing but tyrants. No work, no pay 1 Like 1 Share |

LeoDeKing: And do you know what it entails to be a lecturer fit to lecture stufents. Do you know the hard work that goes into it.. The legislatures that most of them are not educated on what to do, all they do is it, what hard work does it take to legislate on education? It’s very tedious right? No where in the world where they pay legislature as much as they pay ours in the world capital of poverty.. |

Soso990240: That is not the duty of the HOD to scrutinize, it is the duty of his or her employer to put in a mechanism for checks and balance. What I’ve told you is the problem of our universities, what you’re saying is happening as a result of the underfunding of those universities leading to greed. Nigeria pays one of the lowest salaries to lecturers, you can compare with other African countries, if I say developed countries, what lectures receive in Nigeria is only %20. Same thing with the the Police and prisons. |
Re: ASUU Strike: FG Imposed No Work, No Pay by KaluwisxPRO: 5:53pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
bizhop01: Where did you get that info that Nigerian lectures are not being employed overseas Where have you travelled to?? Please speak objectively about what you know. The school I attended in SA had over 6 Nigerian lecturers. 3 were Yoruba, even some Nigerian Masters Student are being used as substitute for some courses. And I believe this is not only happening in SA, so speak with facts. I’m also %100 certain Nigerians are being employed for lecturing Jobs in Canada because I know 2 people personally who are fully employed by a Canadian institute. |
Re: ASUU Strike: FG Imposed No Work, No Pay by Soso990240(m): 6:01pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
KaluwisxPRO:firstly, we are not a developed country. Secondly, students report lecturers misconduct to HOD, who the lecturer is directly under, the lecturer in turn takes up the case to the higher authority. You don't expect a Vice Chancellor or a Governor/minister of Education to sense corruption from his position, students don't report directly to them, there is always a channel of communication. Thirdly so you are trying to hang it on underfunding right? Why then do we arrest and prosecute a thief that only went to rob because he is poor and hungry . Man, there is no justification for bad and evil acts. I passed through the 4 walls of a university and i can tell you that 70% of these lecturers are not just corrupt, the are wicked and devilish. |
Re: ASUU Strike: FG Imposed No Work, No Pay by KaluwisxPRO: 6:09pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
Soso990240: Mr man, the government is the employer, they have a HR that handles employment. If the government and their HR cannot do their Job, it is not the duty of a starving lecturer not to take opportunities when they see one. If universities are funded as they should with top notch equipment, proper infrastructures, study materials and full prompt payment of salaries, they will all be engaged with their actual duties, and will barely have time for other school. You cannot pay me peanuts late, and still expect me not to take extra job to feed my families. Do you know how much these lectures spent on their PhD’s to be receiving peanuts? Most receive less than $2000 as salaries, that is %20-30 of a regular Canadian lecturers salary. |

KaluwisxPRO:I don't know if you are the son of a lecturer, but Mr, u can't justify crime, either way you want to go about it. If you must come to equity, you must come with clean hands. You don't go stealing simply because u are hungry, u can't justify crime. They accepted the Job in the first place. There are other ways to demonstrate the underfunding, but most of the lecturers already chose crime, extorting students and sexually abusing the females and u want to blame it on underfunding? Lastly, i want to believe that you know what a channel of communication means in an organization.. and you expect a student to have a direct communication with the HR? Nawaohh.. so HOD na ceremonial head for the department? Nawaoh. Maybe when you enter school you go understand wella |

Re: ASUU Strike: FG Imposed No Work, No Pay by KaluwisxPRO: 6:30pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
Soso990240: Having two jobs is nowhere a crime mr man, if the system permits, you go for it. If you do not want to, that’s on you. Head of Department does not handle recruitment. He can only recommended disciplinary action against a lecturer. If the HR cannot do their Job they’re being paid for, that in itself is another rot created by the same underfunding. Is there even a HR department in Nigeria universities? They didn’t accept a Job to be paid peanuts, especially when dollar and cost of commodities has gone up over %200 in the last 5years. when was the last time their salaries were reviewed upwards This is why Government must remove their hands from our institutions and sell them to individuals ready to pay and fund them. Government can provide bursaries to students with the funds they claim to be funding the University’s with. Education is not cheap anywhere in the world and everyone must not go to school. |

Soso990240:Sir, are you saying that ALL Lecturers in Nigeria sell handouts and sleep with female students? If a lecturer approach a student (male or female), such student can report to his/her HOD in writing, if the HOD refused to act or the student is not satisfied with the action of the HOD, then the student can escalate, the escalation can go as far as to the council! If still nothing is done, then the student can approach law enforcement agencies (the police in particular). It is not only in the academics that we have bad eggs, we have them in our banks, even our legislators and executives are not left out: one legislator from Taraba comes to mind and we have records of some of them (legislators) who died on-top of women in hotels despite leaving their wife and children at home! If any academics commit crime then arrest, prosecute and jail such, if found guilty. I can bet you that ASUU will never stand to defend any of her member found to have committed any crime. |
Re: ASUU Strike: FG Imposed No Work, No Pay by Soso990240(m): 8:14pm On Apr 06, 2022 |
sinkhole:Firstly, You affirmed my earlier submission to a guy here that HODs have a major role to play in stopping corruption in our institutions. Thank you Secondly, i am not saying that all lecturers are doing the things mentioned above, but we have not heard of any lecturer being disciplined over such acts, unless when the are caught on Camera. Which is d same as how our police are being disciplined (only when caught on camera). Thirdly, you said students should always report to their HOD when they are being extorted or sexually abused, that's the right thing to do.. but i want to tell you that the system is so corrupt that 99% of the HODs protects the lecturers against such, unless the are not in good terms with the HOD. A course mate of mine around 2012 refused to pay for sorting on a particular course, the lecturer fail him. My guy sensed the whole thing and applied for a 're-mark',they still failed him(i believe with the help of our HOD) . This guy ended up spending extra year in school.. The lecturer himself told him "u wan tarnish my image for this school, na me and you". The story went round d department, but we are helpless, because the system have been compromised already. My point is The should put their house in order, there is much corruption in our education system too. What ASSU is asking for, will it make them accept IPPIS as payment Plattform so that other people will see job vacancy? Will it make them to stop extorting students and stop sex for Mark in our schools? If yes, i pray Government grant them their requests, but if no, God punish any lecturer under Assu wet don extort money from student or engage in sex for mark 1 Like |
