sapientia:What can 20% leftover income do for over 200million Nigerians? Especially when 95% of the 20% is going into debt servicing. Technically, our crude oil is being distributed free. "Who is subsidizing who" - buhari asked before defeating Jonathan at the polls Who can ask him the same question now that he is the commander in chief of the armed forces? |

The more the oil prices increase, the more the cost of the subsidy |

almarthins:True, but using that money for refineries means that there would be no cash for subsidy which means an automatic increase in the pump price for petrol Which is not politically popular |

This is the same man who promised in his electioneering campaign to not only revamp our existing refineries but also to build new ones. Here we are in 2022 with all those promises gone with the winds. He even made himself the Minister of Petroleum to add insult to injury. All he has brilliantly achieved is to borrow and continue to borrow to sustain his failed (mal)administration with nothing substantial to show. He fought severally to get to the number one seat only for him to bring Nigeria and Nigerians to the abattoir of economic strangulation and utter despondency. Buhari! U see your life? |

A people deserve the government and rulers they get! This is exactly the way an average Nigerian treats and deals with his fellow countryman!!! Most of the people shouting up and down in this forum would be worse than Buhari if you mistakenly hand them power. Many are nothing short of wicked demons in their work place, community and family! What is on display in the federal level by politicians is a mirror of the people. |

JosephXavier:Well what buhari is doing is what southern leaders like gej and obsanjo did. Subsidise fuel The money on subsides has gone up because the cost of producing one liter of fuel has gone up due to rising prices of crude Unless you want Buhari and whoever succeds him to stop subsidising fuel, this is going to continue Right now one liter of fuel costs over 300 naira. We sell it at N162 per liter. A year ago it was 261 naira. Four years ago it was 180 naira. As the actual cost of fuel rises ao does the subsidy Put a southern in charge, the same story. Nigerians including you want cheap fuel. And government has to pay to see that the fuel remains cheap |

Flamees:Well you guys don't want to pay 400 naira for one liter of petrol, so subsidy remains. ( any time someone suggests subsidy removal on this site, abuses begin) Every time any Nigerian leader tries to completely remove subsidy, you guys will threaten fire and brimstone. Even Abacha was scared enough not to try it. Even then Buhari should have been a strong leader and removed the thing. Good leaders take hard but necessary decisions. |

InoGetJoy:I don't like Buhari, but the reason why you are buying pms and why we dont have refineries is because subsidy remains in place. The money we spend on subsidy could have been used fof refineries. But because we want cheap fuel, we spend it on ensuring now that fuel which actually costs 330 naira sells at 162 naira. Even the 220 naira is happening because subsidy cost is not enough to keep fuel at 162 naira. If we remove subsidy, will you pay over 350 naira for fuel willingly? So that the oil sector can now build refineries to operate at a profit |

JosephXavier:But a southerner would pay subsidy because you don't want to pay n350 and above for a liter of fuel. Or do you want subsidy to go? |

NaMe4:Yeah On petrol It is why you are not laying 400 to 500 naira or at least 360 naira per liter of.fuel at the pump. |

eldoradoxx:It kept rising even then. Plus, GEJ did try to remove it in 2012 due to the fact that it was draining our income badly and making it impossible to refine fuel at home domestically Thanks to the ojota crowd, and to most Nigerians being opposed, he kept the subsidy. By 2015, the economy was in a mess . |

subsidywise18:Why are you dragging this subsidy issue as if that is the only problem Nigeria has You turned boing eye to all the things I listed and focused all your attention on subsidy Goodluck removed subsidy and Buhari hypocritically campaigned against it, but now wants to remove same subsidy Had it been Nigeria did away with subsidy then, who would be talking about increment in fuel importation charges? Don't be so unfortunate this early morning |

JosephXavier:So yoy don't support subsides Good. P.s Nigeria is a resource dependent country. That's why it os meased up. Other african countries have similar problems and no hausas and fulanis in them. We are a country that lives on one source of income. Raw materials. That's why we have never ever prospered. And all of ourleaders north or south haven't changed anything |
