Ikpeba the controversial pundit.. why didn't he criticize the keeper.. what has he to say about the other players? Singling out one player. However oshimhen should have ignored him.. what if oshimhen had scored would he have criticized the style?

Victor Ikpeba should've respected his age and himself.

The way and Manner he talks was as if Victor Osimhen deliberately took that bicycle kick. To me , there's no way Osimhen could have kick the ball more than that, the situation at that moment demanded that style.
Shut up there, Oshimhen is in manner. Do you think Kane or Sterling will reply likt that if it was shearer or Ferdinand that criticize them.

Your hypocrisy stinks. You’ve obviously been bribed to write this rubbish and tarnish the image of a shining light of Nigerian football.

Why would Victor Ikpeba say such a thing that can put Osimehn under serious attack from the public, media… make the young guy so depressed and filled with regrets…and making him lose form because of emotional stress. Why would you do that??

I like Osimehns reply. Elders should behave like elders, not like kids…

Even with how Maguire is defending shit in Manchester… have you seen any England national team Elder or Man U Elder blaming him for a loss??

Protect your own.

No mind those mumu.. Instead of Ikpeba to speak like and elder advising a young lad the fool they throw direct insult wen fit spoil person carrier..

In Osimhen's eyes he is now a superstar. What he does not realize is when you talk like this the enemies you make will be a lot more than Ikpeba. He does not understand life. Anyway I hope there is no Edo angle to this exchange.

As the saying goes be good to those you meet on the way up you might meet them on the way down
let us see how soon he will win something noteworthy Like African footballer of the year
He has never been to a World Cup and it is not sure for him

True! We lost the matches in both legs because our coach picked Osimhen as his pointman, instead of Iheanacho, and Osimhen could not score goals. He was just busy displaying and doing fruitless gra gra. Ghana defenders successfully punctured his threats. After Eguavoen, na Osimhen get the closest biggest blame.

He has an attitude problem. When you see a striker getting needless red cards you have to question his attitude. He is always arguing with referees and picking up avoidable cards. .Shame!!

Maybe Osimhen went a little off but really, how could his bicycle kicks be the problem with the team that day? Common na. The fact that you are old does not mean permit your poor judgment. There are several top stickers who choose alternative ways to score and they missed. Yakubu once tried to control a ball in front of goal and he missed.

Osimhen tried that day abeg. The correction was unnecessary jaare. It is kinda of useless comments from veterans that made us drop Rohr for Eguavoen. Let's call out poor judgment first.

Wats wrong with making a goal attempt just because it did not score. Imagine such mentality. This Nigeria ehnnn, we see people doing well and feel d need to control them and their behavior just because we are older.

so just because you are the pundit then i must swallow every thing you say and let you have your way.
a trained and sensible pundit should know there is something called constructive criticism. You sit on live TV watched by millions to blast the boy just the way you know how to, Osimhen responded just the way he knows how to. He is a footballer and not Ikpeba's customer care agent. next person to talk trash about Osimhen should approach with caution

You guys just like taking sides irrespective of how reasonable your stand is..
What Ikpeba gave was a "constructive criticism"!
If that's not , I then wonder what is!?
He praised Osimehm as the best player on the field that day. He then criticized his reckless overhead kicks, and reminded us that while Osimehm is still a great striker, he's far from the finished product! If that's not constructive enough, tell me how best he would have put it for it to be better...

Your comment reeks of lack of basic understanding and patriotism.

Victor Ikpeba did not criticize his all round performance, he was only critical of those key moments in decision making.

Osimhen’s move to Napoli and the rave reviews he is getting will be his bane if he is not careful.

He dare not try useless bicycle kicks in Italy but the game in Abuja is used to make flamboyant attempts.

Bros am surprise at your judgement

OK see

What Victor Ikpeba:

Victor Osimhen is a good player but is not yet a finished article, forget he’s playing for Napoli,” Ikpeba had criticized on SuperSport after the match in Abuja.

Some of those crosses he might have controlled instead of trying to do a bicycle-kick.

“He’s still a young player, but I hope he can improve while he is in Napoli and help the national team in the future.

“He needs to understand when to play the ball and when to play bicycle- kicks.”

What is the bad thing he said?

You're a good annalist with a very good sense of judgement !

I'm still surprised that people are yet to understand that Oshimen was one the reason we lost out, beside the clueless, uninspiring coach.

If Oshimen was cool headed and not trying to do too much and playing to the gallery, he would have gotten one or two goals in those matches.

But he wanted to do it all alone !

If our coach was smart enough, he shouldn't have started Oshimen bcs he had been planned for by the Ghanians , he would have taken them by surprise.

Many of you are yet to understand that Oshimen was one of the reasons we lost to CAR in Lagos.

Early in the game, Oshimen was played through on goal outside the box, I had expected him to run into the box before taking the shot have beaten their last defender with speed. An experience player would know that anything that'll make that defender to touch him would be a straight red card and penality, but Oshimen decided to take a long shot out the box that went wide, and that was what would have changed that game entirely.

Oshimen is a good player no doubt, but he needs to learn how to be cool headed, football no be by gragra na tactics !

Yes I concur

Very disrespectful

Forget the fact that Osimhen is from my state...infact the two of them are from my state

Football analyst, pundits and expert can criticize a player during live interview

But it doesn't mean the player should insult the pundits
Football analyst pointing out the fault and critizing a player is Normal...it happens everywhere including epl, laliga, seria a, Bundesliga....everywhere

Try and read or hear his criticism, then you will understand why the younger Victor called him an an elder withour sense. That older Victor doesn't know how to talk when trying to give a positive critisism and when giving commentaries, he is way too biased.
I applaud the younger guy. Next time, he will think way beofre talking.
He has the luxury of time to think and make his criticism, but the younger dude doesn't have that luxury on the pitch. Of every rubbish we played that day, was it the bicycle kicks he saw? Sometimes, I wonder if it is the field grass that can't allow us pass the ball well cos for crying out loud, no be sandy field be that now and other teams will pass ball well but Nigeria can't keep a pass going for five legs

This is what is killing the African society. As a Pundit, you should know where to draw the line. Players all over the world have lashed out at pundits who criticised them one way or another. Ikpeba has a record of losing a penalty when it mattered.

Scoring is spontaneous for strikers with flair and agility. I doubt they say "let me score in a karate-like fashion" when the odds of converting it successfully is extremely low. Now, close your eyes for a minute and imagine Figo criticising Cristiano Ronaldo for failing to score just because he tried a Paneka and failed.

Ikpeba is an elder in his household. He may have come before Osimhen, doesn't necessarily make the latter blind or immune to whatever dumb comments he'd make.

Messi once called Jamie Carragher a "DONKEY" just because he was criticised by the former Liverpool player. Ronaldo referred to Roonie recently as "JEALOUS" just because he said Ronaldo is old and United should get another younger striker.

Players have feelings and it is worse when unwarranted comments are made in the heat of a loss. Most of them don't take it too well.

I don't care if Ikpeba was Prince of Monaco. No one cares about his laurels. He bottled far worse than Osimhen when it mattered the most. Criticise how he could not convert or how he failed to convert chances. Don't talk about the way and manner with which he wanted to score.

This has nothing to do with being an elder. You are Pundit and just because you are older does not mean you will get an automatic pass and ignore for insulting and talking anyhow. Victor Ikpeba has always been rude and unruly in the way he talks to others.

Ikpeba should go and rest abeg before thunder strikes him, sadio mane built a hospital and school for his people while this one and his colleagues all they could do was to retire and open a betting platform to reap off the people without giving back. All the killings going on in this country he did not come out and add his voice to ours and ask the government to add more effort to combat the insecurity and aggressive corruption going on instead he is criticizing a bicycle kick. May God forgive him

This is the kind of nonsense opinion those NFF members and super eagles ex players were giving last year that pressured NFF to sack Rohr for Eguavoen despite doing nothing wrong, just because they wanted to sound like good pundits.

By all standards, Rohr did nothing wrong to warrant that sack, but we listened to ex super eagles players turn pundits to pressure us into sacking him because his team doesn't play tiki taka grin

They will probably continue by pressuring and brainwashing people that Osimhen is also a bad striker and should be dropped too, just the way the convinced a lot of people that Rohr was a bad coach.
