It's OK, but we do change our cloth/body when we die, and the death ( which will result in body changing) can come in various ways: through murder, suicide, by sudden violent action or by natural process (natural process is the gentle and willing removal of the body from the soul)!
Unlike our physical material cloth, you can not often remove your body from your soul, some processes must be followed, as I pointed out above.

You're correct at the bolded, we indeed drop the cloth when we "die", but if we are to re-incarnate into this physical world then we must put on another cloth.

You are not talking here about actual death, but death as in the sort of death that a seed must die in order to be reborn as a new plant.

As for the Adam-Eve story, there is not a more sensible add up story than that, just that most accept the meaning given to them and never bother to use their own senses.

The concept of body-soul is actually what we refer to in our everyday conversations, for instance, you will point to your body and say "this is my body!", if you say that then what you are pointing at is not you, but what belongs to you, and the question is, who are you? The answer then will be, "I am he/she who is inside the body!"

It's a fable because it doesn't represent reality. Heaven's viewpoint that has no objective reality is a fable to give you comfort because of the fear of the unknown, death. So you agree with the story in faith. LoLz.
