TonyeBarcanista, a Bayelsa Ijaw reopened old wounds with his story of Adaka Boro. Unlike what a lot of people were told about him,, its time to tell the real story of his expolits.

Adaka During His 12 Day Revolution

1. Adaka 12 Day Revolution was responsible for sacking Non-Ijaws from Yenagoa, an Epie capital the Ijaws claimed as theirs.

2. Adaka banned movement of activities and chased out the Police from the Yenagoa province just as IPOB is doing in the east.

3. Adaka imposed levy and fines on non-Ijaws of Yenagoa province and killed those who stood against him.

4. Adaka himself said his anger was borne out of his cry over the death of his benefactor and "Hero of the Ijaw nation" Alhaji Tafawa Balewa in a coup he accused Igbos of sponsoring.

Then the Police action by Ironsi happened and Adaka was thrown into jail.

Adaka After His Release By Gowon

1. During the civil war, Adaka knowing he had the arms and support from the government unleashed the most evil killings against Rivers people, non-Ijaws from the Epie tribe, Brass and Ogbia too were not spared.

2. Adaka's third brigade used the cover of the war and backing of the Adekunle led third marine commando to do the following:

3. He carried out genocide in Bonny and burnt down the palace of King Secondus Pepple. Today the Perekule palace of Bonny is situated in a new site instead of the former. King Pepple had to flee to Port Harcourt before the city later got captured by the federal forces.

4. Evil Adaka was responsible for the war-of-brothers-against brothers in Kalabari and Okrika that succeeded in piting blood relations with brutal killings taking place in Bakana, Abonnema etc. The Toboniju and Koniju crisis affecting Okrika today had its offshoot from that conflict.

5. Adaka head hunted King Jaja of Opobo with the King fleeing to join Ojukwu in Umuahia. The story was told that as he landed in defenceless Opobo, he took his anger on the people same way he did at Bonny, by asking why a supposedly Ijaw town was speaking Igbo. Dude began shooting at anything that moved.

6. Adaka was a monster that fate killed. Fate with the help of Adekunle killed Adaka. Adekunle was said to be unhappy with the disobedience to order by Boro and his wanton killing of the non-Ijaw populace of Rivers and now Bayelsa. His brutal killings of mostly the Igbo people and land grabbing of non-Ijaw land was never seen.

Can you upload link to sources about Abaka Boro's army activities in the old rivers state. I've been searching for it without success.
I know Boro had sponsorship from fulanis in the north.

Of course, Adaka Boro was an evil bird the North used to destabilize the Eastern region.

Even Adekunle knew how senseless he was hence his elimination before the war ended.

Honest Ijaws knew that Adaka Boro was evil. Deep Inside they know he was consumed by evil. I have heard them say in their groups in hushed tones that it was the gods that cursed Boro for killing so many of his own people.

Ignorance is a thriving art in Nigeria and it is even worse amongst acclaimed educated young people who only go to school but find it hard to do the bare minimum in acquiring knowledge. Most Nigerians do not read, they would rather subscribe to beer parlour gist than do research. When people hail Adaka Boro as their hero, it is either from a point of ignorance or they want to hide under his platform to perpetuate their own hate.

I challenge anyone here to mention ONE positive development Adaka made for his ijaw people, just one.
Someone who never attracted any investment or development to his homeland. He never empowered people who could later take over and bring development. Rather he was an ethnic irredentist who committed some of the vilest forms of ethnic cleansing in today's Niger Delta especially Rivers State. I know someone whose father barely survived Boro's atrocities in Akwa-ibom. There was a reason why Boro was redeployed from the Calabar, Akwa-ibom axis and replaced by a captain from Cross River State. From Bonny to Opobo to Okirika to Kalabari. @Eastlink, you didn't mention he chased the former King of Kalabari into exile where he eventually died in exile. Boro's atrocities raised eye brows even among fellow pro-Nigerian forces. That was why he was setup and eventually eliminated.
Truth is if today's Rivers people rule Rivers State with Adaka Boro and Diette Spiff's template, they would never allow an ijaw man near Brick house in Portharcourt. But let is hide some parts of history and pretend all is well.

You are right. History seems to label him a saint and freedom fighter. But most communities in present Rivers and Bayelsa where he carried out his brutal killings will disagree.

Boro used his lies that Igbos were marginalizing oil communities in the Niger-Delta to implement northern agenda in the eastern region. When late Sadauna said he'll drop the koran in the atlantic ocean, he was being metaphorical. He meant he had stooges in the persons of Boro and Biriye.

My attention has been drawn to a press release by one Emma Powerful where names of Igbo youths were listed as those behind insecurity in the SE. Please, disregard any report from a faceless criminal, my experience so far suggest nothing credible can come from such faceless person.
The faceless criminal without identity has committed crime against humanity as he continue to list Biafrans that have issues with them as criminals. We can’t allow such to continue to happen going forward, they’ve target, murdered our youths unchecked time to stop them is now.

Exactly, Boro was never a freedom fighter who fought for oil bearing communities. He was hate personified and used to civil war to unleash the most evill killing under reported by man. The Nigerian government ate still hiding the deeds of Boro, but Rivers people know better.

Why we are celebrating Isaac Adaka Boro 53 years after – Ijaw in Lagos

The Ijaw community in Lagos celebrated the heroic exploits of the late Major Isaac Adaka Boro, 53 years after his death.

Speaking at a rally held in his honour in Lagos, the Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council, Lagos Chapter, Harry Yinkere Matawa, said the event was aimed at marking his 53rd remembrance.

“We are celebrating our father today, a hero who handed a philosophy, an ideology to the entire Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta”, Matawa said.

“He’s the first ever in the history of Nigeria to fight for the liberation of his people. He died as a soldier 53 years ago in the struggle to keep Nigeria one. “This celebration is a yearly ritual which has come to stay among the Ijaw, Niger Delta and Nigerian people.

“This is the spirit of the struggle of resource control and Isaac Boro believed in resource control.

[ALSO READ] LASG announces night closure of Iju level crossing for rail repairs
“This is a reminder for the Ijaw to keep the struggle alive.

“The era of armed struggle is fading away as the society is changing. It is time the Ijaw youths place themselves strategically so as to peacefully achieve their goals.”

The Ijaw youth leader called on lawmakers from Niger Delta to move a motion towards the restructuring of Nigeria.

His words: “We are calling on lawmakers representing the Niger Delta at the national level to move a motion to restructure Nigeria so that all regions can manage their resources and contribute to the federal purse.

“That’s the essence of what we’re doing today. We are passing a message to our representatives at the state and federal legislative houses.

“Our national president, Peter Igbifa, has issued a one-month ultimatum to the federal government that if the restructuring and the constitution of the NDDC board is not put in place, activities in the Niger Delta will be halted. We are with him on this”.

On his part, the Treasurer of Ijaw Youth Council, Lagos Chapter, Comrade Tikima Arigban, added that Isaac Adaka Boro fought and died for the liberation of the Ijaw ethnic nationality.

“May 16th has become a national day for the Ijaw people to celebrate our icon,” he said.

True.
When in truth, crude oil has not even started yielding revenue for Eastern region at this period in history, and crude oil were already being explored at Igboland as well in Afam ukwu and Owaza!

Oloibiri which was not even an Ijaw community was the excuse he used to pick up arms forgetting that Afam was also producing oil.

Even with his educational exploits, dude didn't tell his fellow imported Ghanian Ijaws that Coal & Palm Oil run the Eastern region economy at that time. Yet he pushed his renegades to overrun Yenagoa province before Ironsi stopped him.
