The EU is asking its citizens to drive less, turn down air conditioning and work from home three days a week, to reduce reliance on Russian energy. grin

The measures, drawn up with the International Energy Agency, would save a typical household €450 (£375) a year.

Buying energy from Russia helps to support its economy and finance the war in Ukraine.

But Europe has said it cannot find alternative supplies, so it is asking citizens to adjust their lifestyles. cheesy

The nine-point plan, entitled “Playing My Part”, urges citizens to drive less, by using public transport, or working from home three days a week.

It also calls on citizens to:

Heat their homes less in winter, and turn the air conditioning down in summer.
Drive more slowly on highways, with the car air conditioning turned down, which uses less fuel
Use the train instead of flying
Travel by public transport, walk, or cycle

It also calls on cities to promote car-free Sundays, as some already do.

“Faced with the horrendous scenes of human suffering that we’ve seen following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, people in Europe want to take action,” said Fatih Birol, executive director of the IEA.

“This guide has easy-to-follow steps that with little or no discomfort on our part can reduce the flow of money to Russia’s military and help put us on a path to a cleaner and more sustainable planet.”

The IEA calculates that if every citizen followed its recommendations, it could save 220 million barrels of oil every year, enough to fill 120 supertankers. It would also save 17bn cubic metres of gas, enough to heat nearly 20 million homes.

In March, the EU announced a plan to make the bloc independent of Russian energy imports by 2030.

But the German energy minister Christian Lindner told the BBC on Wednesday it would be impossible to stop oil imports immediately.

The report also recommends that citizens consider investing in home insulation, smart digital thermostats, and digital cars, which can all help to reduce fossil fuel use.

Instead of finding ways to stop the war, the EU countries are running from pillar to post to punish Russia. Now its has come to sanctioning themselves. When you stay home for three days in a week you burn more gas in heating the home. When you drive slow, you pollute the environment the more.

Stop the damn war and let people live their normal lifes.

At least then the electricity, and gas bills were cheap.
One Irish min said something similar and he came out fast to apologise.
Hungary and Slovakia have said they will pay in rubles as Russia gas is 5 times cheaper than Qatar or USA deal.

Reason Russia government said as long as Russia citizens have access to cheap oil, gas, electricity and foods then any other thing is a plus not necessary.
If the EU don’t have cheap oil and gas then they will lost competition to Turkey, India and China as manufacturing countries.

When you go woke you go broke....

Call for peace or destroy your selfs.

America succeeded with its malice in dragging the countries of the old continent into a (European-European) conflict, by pushing Russia to take a decision to protect its national security by invading Ukraine, and in return pushing European countries to confront Russia, and thus the United States achieved many gains, foremost of which is the sale of American gas to European countries, instead of of Russian gas, and the pursuit of a deeper military and economic alliance, after France and Germany have been searching for months to form a new military force for them to replaces NATO.

America did not leave any choice for the Russian bear in the face of NATO’s expansion towards its eastern borders but to enter into the adventure of confronting the world to protect its national security

Ukraine in NATO, will makes Russia fall under NATO pliers This is evident in that NATO missiles were away from the Russian strategic locations by about 40 minutes at the time. These missiles take to target strategic locations in the Russian Federation and this is enough time to deal with them and shoot them down, but if NATO extended east in Ukraine, then the missile would need less than 5 minutes to reach its target in Russia, then Russia’s losses would have been greater if it had not waged war against Ukraine .

Russia has no choice but to go to war, no matter how much this war will cost it in terms of strategic and economic losses, which will not be greater than its loss of national security and ominous existence, while Europe, which many political analysts have classified as American satellite dishes. , enters the battle that is heading to a third world war that is devastating for all, and not because of a desire, interest or danger threatening it as much as it is an implementation of American directives and the overthrow and defeat of Russia in a war that was imposed on the Ukrainian people by the policy of America, which knows very well that Russia will not be silent and will enter into The war, no matter the cost, and do not forget the Western media, which maliciously promotes the heroism of the Ukrainian people and their resistance in the news, but the reality is something else, and all of this is fake to serve their interests.

USA is a problem to this world.
It aim is to rule by proxy but we know just like other evil organization were destroyed USA will go the same path if it continues to have the evil desire for dominance.
