My tips to staying safe especially at dusk
* I don't pick more than two adult male passengers once it's past 9pm.
* I turn down rides to destinations I'm not really familiar with (I no send Uber/Bolt who don't give a hoot if any harm befalls you).
* I always ensure I'm always in my best manners to every rider. However, the slightest showcase of violent tendencies by any rider triggers an end to the trip IMMEDIATELY. A report will be sent to Uber/Bolt (client refusing to pay) so you n Uber/Bolt can exchange grammar well well.

Exactly what I've been doing to stay safe for the past 6months and it's definitely working for me.
However, it's clear the owners/handlers of the Bolt platform tend to believe whatever the rider tells them over you the driver.
Once you make a report (bad/violent behavior especially) and they take note and reach out to the rider, the verdict most times is a straight reduction on your driver rating WITHOUT RECOURSE TO informing you as to why!
Had an experience where I went from 4.85 to as low as 4.30 within four days. Hell! I was even suspended for a day owong to low rating with no reply whatsoever given on demand.
Now I simply turn my phone's audio recorder on once a rider starts acting a fool on or before the ride commences.
Need I say this new step has saved me twice from the aforementioned incidence and has drawn unreserved apologies from the near-biased owners/handlers of Bolt on each ocassion.

Also be observant of what goes on at the backseat of your car while on a ride. Here's why:
Last tuesday, I picked a couple (guy n girl) beside the national stadium (Surulere) around 09:30pm. The destination was somewhere inside Kilo (same Surulere). Along the way, I observed the lady was no longer responding to the very weird (diabolic, judging by the sound of it) conversation the guy was initiating. One look at the rear mirror revealed the lady was slumped in a sleep state while the young wasreciting incantations while trying to wave a white hankerchief round her head.
I immediately parked, jumped out of the car, opened the lady's side of the car n started vigorously shook her to consciousness, much to the extreme shock of the young man. She came back to her senses and started demanding to know where she was n how she got there. That was when I went for and clutched the young man by the belt and demanded an explanation before he could escape.
Passersby saw the unfolding drama n assisted in effectively tying the suspect to the ground. He then confessed the plan was to diabolically take her soul from the body, leave the corpse in the back (pretending to be asleep), drop at a junction kilometres away from the final destination, PAY THE DRIVER A TIDY TIP TO TAKE "MY BABE" TO THE FINAL DESTINATION AND WAKE HER UP WHEN WE ARRIVE AND "JAPA" ASAP.
I would have been saddled with the impossible-to-explain challenge of been found with a dead body in the backseat of my car had I not been observant that night.
Now you see what I mean?
