Sokoto Gov. Aminu Tambuwal has accepted the resignation of his Deputy, Alhaji Manir Dan’iya; Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Malam Saidu Umar and 11 other key political office holders in the State.

This is contained in a statement by Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Muhammad Bello, in Sokoto.

The statement listed others, whose resignations were accepted by the Governor to include the Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Magori as well as Commissioners for Finance, Environment, Youths and Sports and Lands and Housing, Abdussamad Dasuki, Sagir Bafarawa, Bashir Gorau and Aminu Bala respectively.

Others are: Commissioners for Commerce, Works, Water Resources, Solid Minerals, Religious Affairs and Careers and Security, Bashir Gidado, Salihu Maidaji, Shuaibu Gwanda-Gobir, Abubakar Maikudi and Abdullahi Maigwandu and Retired Col. Garba Moyi respectively. (NAN)

Sokoto state PDP has collapsed. The only PDP senator from the state dumped the party earlier today. Now, everybody on consequence in the government have resigned. The election will be a walkover for APC in the state next year.

The Deputy governor resigned because the party is dead in the state. Tambuwal may even join APC with the way things are going.

Such a significant depletion in the ranks of the state's ruling party. Just like my friend and brother above said, the party has collapsed in the state.

The deputy doesn't have to resign to contest. Again Tambuwal was reelected in opposition so anything can happen moreover it's the decision of the electorates that is final.
